Not sure if this is engagement farming, but it can demotivate some designers, so I’ll say it straight.

LLMs are not even 20% of the way to what good designers can do. I don’t want to sound toxic, but there’s probably no nicer way to say this. I looked at your portfolio, see the screenshot, and the animations are absolutely great. But when it comes to the logotypes, those pictograms are extremely simple.

And that’s exactly the kind of style LLMs can handle, because they’ve seen thousands of similar logotypes in their training data.

The same thing is happening across pretty much every profession. Average front end devs, UI designers, graphic designers, writers, all of them already have an existential problem, and you can see it in the low number of open junior roles. You simply have to do exceptional work that brings some real added value.

But really, don’t take this the wrong way. I like your work, and the animations are genuinely high quality. It’s just that the pictograms are basically default shapes without a soul, the kind of thing LLMs have seen thousands of times in training data.

Don’t quit design. In a world full of LLM slop, designers are needed more than ever 👌👌
