#ICWABook titled "Idea of Order: Perspectives from Central and Eastern Europe (1989-2022)" by Rakesh Batabyal explores how, in 1989, many Central and Eastern European countries transitioned from socialism to neoliberal economic and political systems. This break from the past and the aspiration for a more secure socio-economic order sparked critical intellectual and political imaginations. This book examines how ideas of order are constructed within national locations, shaped by social, political, and cultural variables such as nation, empire, and religion. It delves into the emergence of a 'national order' alongside global financial and European transnational systems, ongoing secularization despite Christian rhetoric, and Russia's national assertions, all shaping the 'Idea of Order' as influenced by the socio-economic and cultural histories of intellectual and academic traditions in Central and Eastern Europe.
