A hidden tax in William Ruto’s Finance Bill 2026 could make some food and drinks more expensive for every Kenyan.

On page 28, under tariff codes 3923.30.00 and 3923.90.90, Ruto’s govt is proposing a 10% excise duty on plastic packaging articles. (evidence below)

Current excise duty: 0%

Think about it:

Milk comes in plastic.
Water comes in plastic.
Juice comes in plastic.
Cooking oil comes in plastic.
Takeaway food comes in plastic.
Bread, Salt, and many other foods.

Tax the packaging, and the cost is pushed to YOU.
This is how the cost of living rises quietly under the William Ruto Govt.

Not by taxing the food directly.
But by taxing the bottle, the wrapper, the container.

And by the time prices go up at the supermarket, most people won’t know where it started.
