@WW2TV That same silhouette image on t shirts sold at Ypres square to commemorate the Great War Centenary and still on sale when there last month! I’d like to meet the person who designed that shirt…and just stare at them in disbelief!
@VeteransENG_CA I am indeed saddened. I was there 5 years ago when Bill attended. I had interviewed him just weeks before he went to France. He served on HMCS Kitchener and was offshore at Omaha on 6 June.
@CraigBaird I met Stigler on several occasions in the 90’s. He often showed up at aviation related events. My cousin was shot down and killed in 1944 so I was always a bit funny when near him.
#remembrance Dutch children placed 2 roses on each of the 1393 headstones at Holten. As well children placed first wreath. Well over 1K people attended. Been at ceremonies at Beny s Mer, Bretteville and Dieppe but the deliberate and prominent role played by children added so much
@mike_bechthold Oh you opened that can ‘o worms? I am certain twitter will lend insight to this…ha. Oh what the hell, Brown credited for the kill in 1918. Good enough for me. There I said it!
@mike_bechthold Merci Mike 4 wading into this endless and unsolvable debate. Grew up on a diet of Brown, Collishaw, and Barker so my 10yr old hero worship memory always there but as you say it does not matter-will never be solved. MvR made a fatal error & .303 bullet killed him 1 way or another
#RCAF Per Ardua Ad Astra 100 years of the RCAF 3 family members served in SWW - one killed on Ops, one a POW. Reflecting and remembering from Maui this am. Will put up my “Duster” on pole when I get home.
#remembranceday2023 a memorable day ahead in Ottawa with the Silver Cross Mother, winners of the RCL poster, poetry, and essay contest, and top cadets.
