We understand the push for Zoho to go public. But let me state the reality: Arattai would very likely not have been built by a public company that faces quarter to quarter financial pressure. It was a "hopelessly foolish" project, and even our employees had expressed scepticism that Arattai would ever gain any traction.
We built it because we felt we need that kind of engineering capability in Bharat. We need a lot lot more of such capabilities in Bharat and we are on it.
We have some very ambitious, long range R&D projects going on in Zoho, including compilers, databases, OS, security, hardware, chip design, robotics (not to mention AI) and on and on. In addition, we have invested in many R&D intensive companies that we know won't make money soon.
Zoho is a kind of an industrial research lab that also makes money to fund itself. We essentially ignore short term profits, as long as we don't lose money. And we have a culture of founders and senior executives living frugally, like how good scientists and engineers in ISRO would live. To us that is the essence of Bharat. Japan operated that way when it was developing.
Imagine saying all that to Wall Street or Dalal Street!
“If there was only one university in the world I could hire from, it would be the IITs.”
-@BillGates
With 1.3 million kids applying for one of 18,160 seats, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are the toughest undergrad engineering program to get admitted to. The admit rate is just 1.4% versus 4.7% for @MIT . This year 489 @DakshanaIndia Scholars took the IIT entrance exam and 329 were accepted as IITians, a success rate of 67%!
5% of all IIT seats are reserved for kids with physical disabilities. At @DakshanaIndia, we have had a special focus on disabled kids almost since inception. This year we prepared 33 severely disabled kids for the IIT entrance exam and 26 of them were accepted by the IITs – a 79% success rate! @DakshanaIndia's topper was Lakhan Mahali who ranked 2nd in the country among tribals with disabilities admitted to the IITs. He will be studying Computer Science at IIT Delhi! Congrats Lakhan!
Lakhan has extreme locomotor disability in both hands with an irregular bone structure. He cannot lift heavy objects. He can hold a pen and write only for a few minutes. After that unbearable pain radiates from his fingers to his wrist and then on to his elbow, forcing him to drop his pen. The pain subsides after a few minutes; he can resume writing and the cycle repeats. It is a genetic condition. His younger brother has a similar locomotor disability affecting his back which makes it hard for him to walk even for short distances.
Lakhan’s family lives in Rapcha village in a remote corner of the State of Jharkhand. Lakhan’s mother is illiterate, and his father never finished 10th grade. Both parents are unskilled laborers making under $1.50/day each. They live in extreme poverty in a 250 sq. ft home with no indoor plumbing or regular electric service. Any possible surgery that could have helped him was never explored and not an option.
While Lakhan has great difficulty with traditional writing and lifting heavy objects, he faces no issues with using a laptop or tablet. In 2029, when he graduates from IIT Delhi, his family’s financial struggles will finally be over and we at Dakshana are stoked about our small role in his journey.

Hey @CPDelhi this person has come to our kitchen and asking for bribe, to pay him money and give him food - this is getting ridiculous every day @DCPSEastDelhi - They are given Salary by the Government, why do they have to ask for Bribes and trouble businesses
8 hours of non-stop pounding in Hebbal and nearby areas. Roads are rivers, drains are bursting. When will this madness stop? ✋

Karnataka Govt’s idea to extend metro to Tumkur is a stupid idea.
They should instead focus on early completion of pending lines and further densification of network inside Bengaluru. Metro is to solve intra city connectivity.
Tumkur should be connected with RRTS or even suburban rail.
The Wular lake in North Kashmir. The civil works you see in the video is the Tulbul Navigation Barrage. It was started in the early 1980s but had to be abandoned under pressure from Pakistan citing the Indus Water Treaty. Now that the IWT has been “temporarily suspended” I wonder if we will be able to resume the project. It will give us the advantage of allowing us to use the Jhelum for navigation. It will also improve the power generation of downstream power projects, especially in winter.
@RadioGenoa@gork is this video and its content are true? is UK indeed facing unprecedent increase in muslim population in last 10 years ? From where these muslims came from if ans is true ?
