AOC: “There was several students suspended and one put on track for deportation by Cornell University for protesting the genocide in Palestine on campus. We do that for someone engaging in free speech and protest on campus, but we make rapists write an essay in private”

“As long as our civilization is essentially one of property, of fences, of exclusiveness, it will be mocked by delusions. Our riches will leave us sick; there will be bitterness in our laughter, and our wine will burn our mouth.”

Rarely do I share someone else’s words here, but I think it would be hard to nail it better than the Daily Show did:

this doesn't even make nonsense. "feeling healthy" isn't a substitute for "being healthy." & the more elderly workers, presumably the fewer younger workers whose place they are taking.
no one of these vultures thinks: "Oh. Why don't we just tax the ultra-rich equitably? Maybe that would solve our problems."

Today, they’re renaming lakes to appease one.

Paul Newman In 1983 stated that the United States disregards the truth, always creating exaggerated enemies to justify wars and massacres for profit, while ignoring crimes committed by other nations like Israel.

The number of words we speak daily seems to be dropping by more than 300 each year. Some researchers blame the internet; others blame the erosion of small, everyday interactions with strangers. https://t.co/j6OWM14q8k

what does the term "socialist" even mean? 'communist"? "capitalist"? these are ideas that are implemented by human beings in relationship to contexts in which there is debate, disagreement, compromise, adjustments. a political leader may have an idea about "welfare"--"free public transportation"--"universal health care"--but the idea is worked out in detail over months if not years. the idea is opposed, there is debate, voters vote; if it doesn't work out, it is jettisoned for other ideas.

any political idea or idealism has no existential reality without being put to the test.
since every attempt to establish communism through force, in a state, has failed disastrously, it is not likely that "communism" per se is any threat to anyone, seriously. "capitalism" has been modified constantly through taxes, regulations, etc., yet as an idea it is still viable, practical. "socialist" ideas are everywhere, like the air we breathe. demonizing sincere attempts to remedy crises is not helpful when the present state for so many Americans desperately needs to be improved.

She got worse, but they insisted on 2 ultrasounds before treatment.

She died hours later.
