@JesseRogersESPN I really get the sense the MLB is throwing out all these additional things, such as this, that have no chance so that the salary cap has a better chance of being accepted.
@brewcitypaul@SamKuffelWx I put the majority of the blame on the ownership group and FO. But I also think GA put them in difficult positions. Between stretching for trades (starting with Bledsoe) to coaching hires, it was to please GA.
But hey, they did get one championship out of it.
@matthewcoca@heathcummingssr Counterpoint: the purpose of challenges/replay is not to get all the calls/plays right. It’s meant to correct the egregious/high leverage moment calls. If there were ‘unlimited’ challenges, there would be increased stoppage of play, and again, that’s not the purpose.
@Laurentdalmeida@notbobkoz Ahh I forgot, you guys only trade your stud pitchers (That are even from there!!). How dare we suggest trading for a guy who’s contract is up in 2 years while your in a middle of a rebuild…and a guy you sent to the minors.
@MatthewMKE98 The other common denominator here is pitching vs hitting. He’s criticized publicly pitchers before, even this year for not being “prepared”.
Whereas those hitters he’s not as publicly critical of. Might be a philosophy thing for him, and/or just knowing how hard hitting is
@dgasper24 Dont get me wrong, Perk hasn’t been good. But hes a fine 5th outfielder. He’s a good defender and a good teammate.
Difference between how Murph talks about Perk and like Sprout is because of potential. For Perk this is pretty much if for him. For Sprout, it’s for what he can be
@SoFloBallKnower@Just_Carp Sure, he may want to go there. But what would make the 49ers just release him?
It’s not like they are paying him so they have no incentive to let him go to another team for nothing.
And that team is in the NFC
@JeffSpiegel “Playoffs are a crap shoot mathematically” is like the post I see from time to time here saying odds are 50/50 no matter is situation. Like saying either outcome has the same likelihood of happening (heads or tails).
In reality, MLB outcomes favor higher salary teams
@The_Cubbie1998 The funny thing with this take, is Brewers owner (Mark A.) has a net worth of around 1 billion $. Mets owner (Cohen) has a net worth of 21 billion. If Cohen wanted too (and he had tried, unsuccessfully) he could dump money in since he has the resources.
@TMAN2999@MarinerMenace I’d be curious to see the actual stats, if the top does get affected. It might, but then it still only benefits the next 5-10%
I do agree with you, they need a floor and would need to re-work the pre free agency years. But I’d say most fan bases want a more level playing field
@975TheFanatic@975Unfiltered HANG THE BANNERS TB, CLE, AND MIL!! YOU’VE DONE IT! LEAD THE DIVISION BEFORE JUNE!!
Can someone remind me when the last time one of these organizations won a World Series?
Anyways; LAD, HOU, BOS, and SF have 9 of the last 15. @jaysonst
@TMAN2999@MarinerMenace The one thing I have a hard time understanding, it seems though the salary cap benefits the top 1% of the game, however the floor would help benefit the bottom 50% or so.
Point being, how do those pro players just hanging on, benefit from no salary cap?
