🧵 My Core Beliefs — a thread
This is the compass I live by — a summary of what I stand for.
Democracy as a baseline. Equality with dignity.
Moderate welfare, free markets, and the dignity of labor.
Rational conservatism — and the American suburban spirit that keeps freedom human
Jahrhunderts.
Danke @elonmusk für die klare Ansage.
This graph is the best defense of capitalism
> population grows dramatically
> poverty falls off a cliff
If you believe in a fixed pie this is impossible.
Capitalism makes the pie bigger
It incentivized massive jumps forward in food production, medicine, housing, transportation, etc
Not a perfect system but the US flavor of free market innovation is by far the best thing to happen to humanity in 2000 years
A great convergence in global incomes is underway.
Between-country inequality has fallen sharply since its 1980 peak. But inequality within some countries is on the rise.

In 1960, newly independent African leaders had a choice: capitalism or socialism.
Almost all of them picked socialism.
A Ghanaian economist named George Ayittey spent forty years documenting what happened next.
His findings are in print, and almost nobody outside Africa wants to hear them. 🧵
There has never been a socialist system where workers broadly owned the means of production. In practice, ownership is transferred to the state, and the state is controlled by politicians and bureaucrats, not ordinary workers.
"Worker ownership" is the sales pitch. Political ownership is the reality.
Under capitalism, workers are free to become owners, invest, start businesses, or form worker cooperatives if they choose.
Under socialism, ownership is centralized and those choices disappear.
The real owning class under socialism isn't the working class. It's the political class. Socialism doesn't abolish rulers. It abolishes independent owners.

Comrade Donald promises misery and hunger under communism.
A collapsed economy ensures the socialist elite never face competition from the builders.

Good news! Reform won 7 council by-elections last night.
Take the St Helens Town Centre Ward, last up in 2022. We went from 0% to 39%, smashing Labour. The Conservatives got 3.6%. They are no longer a national party.
In Wilnecote Ward in Tamworth, we thrashed the Conservatives. Our vote was up +33%, theirs down -20%.
We also won big in Cambridgeshire, Rhyl South, Nuneaton and Staffordshire.
Across the country, people get it. Britain is broken. Only Reform will fix it!
Yo defendía el capitalismo...
hasta que entendí que no es solo el sistema que más prosperidad genera, sino el único compatible con la libertad individual.
Ahora lo defiendo más que nunca.

“Let’s just redistribute South Korean wealth all over North Korea. That’ll totally fix everything.”

That all ends when I’m governor. We’ll deliver real relief to Californians by bringing gas down to $3.00! ☀️👊
