Golf has been a game of traditions and gradual evolution. A new world and changing demographics has forced a revolution - and LIVgolf started one in 2022...
Cam Smith is back at the Old Course this week for the first time since he shot a back 9 of 30, for a final round 64, to win The Open in 2022. Hopefully he can re-ignite that form this week at the Dunhill.
I still canโt believe he got it up and down from here btw, unreal! ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐บ
@AndrewKirbyGolf@GolfloverUK@livgolf_league Sounds hard, but I don't mind if Mito misses out as it saves Niemann a tough decision. With all 4 scores counting, Mito's performance has really pulled Torque down this year.
@AndrewKirbyGolf@flushingitgolf The Shark was insane on those! Never saw anything like it; the way he could hit a 3 iron that would scream off the club and then start rising later in flight - it was a sight to behold!
For those whoโve followed me long enough, you know I write as a columnist and journalist almost exclusively about geopolitical issues or Saudi public affairs. I never write about golf โ except to share news about my sons or the tournaments they play in. For me, golf remains a passion, a personal space, a sport I love as a hobbyist, not as an analyst.
But ever since @livgolf_league was born, the debate keeps repeating โ and the attacks keep intensifying. The latest example: the @AnthonyKim_Golf vs. @chambleebrandel incident. So allow me to say this, as a Saudi:
In the ongoing debate surrounding LIV Golf and the shifting dynamics of the sport, one thing is clear: the loudest voices are not critiquing formats, players, or performance โ theyโre guarding legacy power.
For decades, @PGATOUR held near-total control over what golf should look like, and when a new model emerged โ one rooted in fairness, reduced mental strain on players, and global inclusion โ the reaction wasnโt professional criticism. It was moral posturing and veiled bigotry.
Are we, in Saudi Arabia, not part of this world? Do we not have the right to offer a new experience โ one that reflects our values and vision for the future of sports?
Why is the conversation skewed toward demonizing those who dare to build something new?
Real progress in sport happens when different schools of thought are welcomed, not when a single ideology is imposed through gatekeeping.
Let the conversation be about rules, quality, and strategy โ not identity.
Because history is never written by those who shout the loudest, but by those who dare to create better alternatives.

@AndrewKirbyGolf Maybe Rory pulled a few strings - understand he wasn't too happy about Tom picking LIV over PGAT and he wants to get him back over to the dark side...
@UsedGolfFacts At least some answers saying the PGA is better are honest; it's not a better leaderboard based on the players, but because they don't like LIV. Thank you for taking the time to show how good and relevant LIV actually is!
