@lespauljunior3@MichielWorkwize I did.
Started work for a UK Train Operating Company on the Monday, still no PC or desk on the Thursday, resigned on the Friday.
Took one of the other jobs I had been offered, where at least I felt wanted.
@shire_england@ZacGoldsmith I presume you managed to read as far as the 8/9, showing that this post did not stand alone but was part of a longer thread?
@MiloTindle9@DPJHodges One is in prison.
Mohammed Fahir Amaaz was found guilty in July 2025 of:
assaulting a member of the public
assaulting two female police officers (including causing actual bodily harm)
After conviction, he was remanded in custody (i.e. held in prison awaiting sentencing).
@freennamaniac The referee can end the match whenever they judge time has expired.
This can happen:
During open play
At a stoppage (e.g. before a throw-in/corner is taken)
The referee’s decision on timing is final.
The one exception is if a penalty is awarded, which must be taken/completed.
@ChiefPieEater@PaulfrYorkshire@andyw8924 It doesn’t work like that.
There is a fixed cost for running state education that has to be paid . Adding/removing pupils doesn’t cost (or save) a fixed number/pupil. The actual change is marginal.
Total state pupils fell by ~59,600 (–0.7%) between ‘24 and ‘25.
@KathyParr101 Partially true, but very “best-case scenario”.
Yes, TfL has a DB pension (rare + valuable). But ~¾ salary only comes after ~40 yrs’ service, not for everyone.
You can currently take it at 55, but it’s reduced (by 18%). And the minimum age is rising to 57.
