At the time many of us thought this would be good for conservatives. We were tired of constantly having to make time to vote after work to protect our money while the liberal state workers could just walk downstairs to vote to impose new fees and taxes since most of the polling locations were around places where governments employees worked.
We were so naive…
Buying a ton of out of the money options like this is super easy to prove and whoever did this is for sure going to jail. The market maker on the other side of the trade is extremely incentivized to see this prosecuted so they can get the trades cancelled, and the exchange and the SEC basically exist to serve them. No one on the other side of that trade is going to just accept the loss.
Whoever did this will get a call from the SEC, and probably immediately incriminate themselves because they are stupid and don't know not to talk to the authorities without an attorney. They will think they can "talk" their way out of this and commit many additional felonies like obstruction of justice and wire fraud in the process of just talking to the investigator for 5 minutes.
Most likely the trader is not the insider and the SEC will easily connect the trader to the insider through phone records. The insider will immediately cave and incriminate whoever they told because your typical white collar middle management insider is not going to be some kind of criminal mastermind with expert OpSec.
The guilty party will get charged with many felonies beyond insider trading and the SEC will have an iron-clad case against the person with just a few hours of work, and the guilty party will have to take a plea bargain to avoid convictions on those additional felonies.
@TheStalwart@oliviasolon@jeffykao I remember years ago, some guy in San Diego went to jail for fraud after making like $30M+ by injecting his ebay affiliate code into people's ebay transactions using a web widget. I wonder if Phoebe will face that kind of accountability?
I'm late GenX and probably don't need it, but it sure would be nice to be able to get SS.
I think a lot of GenX has always planned to not get SS, but I think a lot of us are a little too smug about this. During a future financial crisis, private retirement accounts will be an obvious target for greedy politicians.
We have seen this already in some other countries that have had various financial crises in the past decade. Some places took 10% haircuts from retirement accounts, others confiscated the stocks and replaced them with debased gov bonds, etc...
I think Roth style 401k's and IRA's will be one of the first obvious targets in the US. Some day a politician will propose taxing distributions from "large" accounts. Of course if you can afford to retire you by definition have a "large" retirement account so it would impact basically everyone who meaningfully used these accounts to save for retirement.
@homesteadpilot Funny how reading X makes me appreciate my parents more. Like most middle class white kids with boomer parents I have plenty of complaints about how I was raised, but at least my parents give me their old vehicles when they upgrade. Love ya Mom&Dad.
* I don’t see it navigate any steps/stairs
* I don’t see it opening the door to any laundry machine
* Most house’s laundry rooms also have doors…I don’t see it opening any doors.
* I see it taking a tiny load of shirts and folding 2of them…What i don’t see is a typical load of laundry with pants, shirts, underwear, socks…all different sizes getting folded and stacked neatly so that for example paired matching socks are together.
@AmazonHelp@AJA_Cortes Done. The Amazon guy picked them up from my doorstep today where I left them. I am really glad that I didn't need to haul these off somewhere to complete the return.
Your phone call was the first time a human being reviewed the claim at your insurance company. The error here was from your provider. They submitted an incorrect claim with the wrong patient name/gender. An easy error to catch and fix on their end. Most claim denials are this: The medical provider filled in the paperwork incorrectly. As patients we should be angered by their sloppy work, not the insurance company denying a claim for an obviously impossible medical case...man giving birth to a baby.
@JoeConchaTV It has been obvious that Raman is the anointed candidate, hand selected by the CA party machine. In the general election she will "miraculously" pull off a "huge comeback" to win the general election and become LA's next mayor.
