We 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 Derby…
Gutted to see three fabulous years come to an end at @DerbyUni but I leave having made a plethora of incredible memories with the best mates I could’ve ever asked for.
I’m very proud of everything I have achieved and can’t wait for my next adventure! 😁
My four favourites from this season’s travels:
🇩🇪 Signal Iduna Park (Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Eintracht Frankfurt)
🇩🇪 RheinEnergieStadion (1. FC Köln 1-3 1. FC Heidenheim)
🇫🇷 Stade Bollaert-Delelis (RC Lens 2-1 Olympique de Marseille)
🇩🇰 Parken (FC Copenhagen 3-3 Silkeborg IF)
@PassMeTheDrog@michael54625373@kevinhatchard I meant more that the clubs are in the hands of the fans and still represent their cities and communities rather than some American or Middle Eastern mega corporation with no connection to the club
Aston Villa end their 30 year wait for a trophy in Europe.
Spurs ended a 17 year wait for a trophy in Europe.
West Ham ended a 43 year wait for a trophy in Europe.
Palace have a very good chance of winning their first European trophy next week.
Massive congratulations to Villa and I don't mean to take anything away from those teams, or their supporters...
But the financial advantage that the Premier League has over the rest of Europe, appears to have ruined the competitive balance in the Europa League and Conference League.
Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG, Barcelona, they'll always be able to compete in the Champions League due to their immense pull in attracting the best talent...
But in the two competitions below? Different story.
But take tonight's game...
Aston Villa wage bill for 24/25 was reportedly £273m, Freiburg's was £20.6m.
That's just not a level playing field!
@MrOgbanga@greggevans40 But that’s what I’m saying. Football isn’t lost in Germany, and I’m sure they’d happily keep it that way in exchange for being less competitive on the continent. Winning in Europe is far from the be all and end all of football
@MrOgbanga@greggevans40 Football shouldn’t be a contest of corporations’ bank accounts. That is what has rendered the Premier League largely soulless. The “silly” 50+1 rule prevents that and keeps football as it should be. Nobody would sell German football’s soul for a bit of luck in Europe.
Paolo “Why is our spacing so bad”
Franz “I need the ball in better spots”
Wendell “I can’t keep grabbing offensive rebounds”
Bane “I just hit my 6th three in a row”
Jalen Suggs sideplot:
@MikeKing14_ Have you had any experience of intercity public transport there? I’ve got some great plans drawn up but can’t see that cities are particularly well connected by rail
@SixthManShow An incredibly refreshing win. A few unforced errors crept in in the fourth but Magic have been so much better on defence and rebounding tonight than recent weeks
@JoeTune8@callum_017@wiltufc Even three minutes would be a welcome change. They can never be arsed to get behind the team but have the energy to sing about foreign aircraft and the prime minister 🥴🥴🥴
