Why I have never slept in any house I bought with my own money — Influencer Ola of Lagos
Influencer Ola of Lagos has explained why he prefers renting an apartment rather than living in one of the houses he owns, saying he believes paying rent keeps him motivated to work harder.
Speaking on a podcast kk show,Ola said he deliberately chooses to rent because living in his own house could make him too comfortable and reduce his motivation to hustle.
“That is why I don’t sleep in any of my house, I will relax. Rent, pay rent, so that when the year ends, you know you want to pay 50 million. Pay. So that you go know say you have to work,” he said.
He, however, stressed that his approach is based on his personal circumstances and should not be taken as a rule for everyone.
“It’s fine to stay in your house you bought, but this is my own opinion, so don’t let that judge your life,” he said.
Ola also cautioned people against blindly following financial advice on social media, noting that decisions about buying a house or car should depend on an individual’s reality.
“It’s just like coming on the internet saying, ‘Oh, if you make your first money, don’t buy house, buy car. Oh, don’t buy car, buy house.’ No. It depends on your reality,” he said.
According to him, buying a car can also be a pathway to building wealth, as it may help someone generate the money needed to acquire property.
“Some people now, na the car wey they go buy, go buy them houses. My mentor online, he said his first car bought him all his houses. Yeah. So look at your current situation,” Ola said.
“Nigeria is not just expensive. Nigeria is now difficult to survive. Nigerians are not asking for miracles. Nigerians want a country with a little less fear and little more hope, a country where working hard actually counts for something”

But Doctor, why should we put vitamins in seasoning cubes?”
That’s exactly the conversation we should be having.
What nutrients?
What amounts?
For whom?
What evidence?
What safety standards?
What regulatory safeguards?
What food vehicles?
What impact?
And this is why I’m pushing the conversation around mandatory B9 + B12 fortification.
Because hidden hunger requires us to think beyond:
“Tell people to eat better.”
We also need to ask:
“How do we make adequate nutrition more accessible?”
I’ve been to previous editions, and somehow, you can walk in knowing nobody and walk out with new connections, new ideas, new opportunities… and at least one person saying, “Let’s collaborate!” 😂
Now imagine doing all of that bigger and better.
