Really bad news. The India Club has been one of London’s hidden gems, providing for decades a real taste of India to us all. Over the years it became part of the city’s fabric, especially for students from colleges like LSE including my wife, who introduced me to it.Dreadful loss
It’s time to end the scandal of our energy system which allows profiteers to pocket billions while workers and communities are left in the cold.
It’s time to pull the plug on energy profiteers.

The tragic deaths in Channel are the result of Government’s refusal to establish safe routes. For Tory MPs to use them as cover to fulfil their long held ambition of withdrawing from the ECHR exposes how far the Tories have travelled from basic standards. https://t.co/G0F1S4vc7E

"The legal community is gravely concerned by the experience of Jacqueline McKenzie. No lawyer should be criticised, or made the subject of a targeted campaign, for doing their job." - Nick Vineall KC & Lubna Shuja @TheLawSociety@LawSocPresident https://t.co/WGaecDyOKS
If you REALLY cared about energy security you’d nationalise energy companies
If you REALLY cared about lowering bills you’d fix our leaky homes and invest in cheap public transport
But maybe this isn’t about energy security and bills, but ensuring bumper profits for oil giants
Pleased to see @SadiqKhan and ULEZ vindicated in the High Court today.
ULEZ has led to 4 million in inner London now breathing clean air. Its expansion will bring these benefits to millions more, addressing a public health & climate crisis simultaneously.
Expanding the ULEZ was not an easy decision, but it will save lives.
The easy decision would have been to kick the can down the road.
But were we to do that, thousands more people would die prematurely.
London deserves better than the dangerous, polluted air we have today.
We stand in solidarity with sociologist, dissident and Pluto author Boris Kagarlitsky, who was detained by Russia’s Federal Security Service earlier this week.
His arrest is an assault on free speech and anti-war protest, and we call for his immediate release.
Oil and gas giants make HUGE profits from windfalls of war 💰

By staying in the secretive Energy Charter Treaty, the UK Government is choosing to protect polluters over the planet.
Sign the petition now and demand we leave the treaty before there’s no planet left to protect
Train companies have been forced to delay their plans to shut ticket offices after a big public backlash.
That's good - but it's nowhere near good enough.
They need to scrap their plans to shut ticket offices once and for all.

Usually, I try and maintain some sense of respect for the office of the Prime Minister, but it’s just impossible when the man doing the job is willing to demean it like this. What a desperate attempt to deflect from his own dismal failures. Utterly pathetic.
