Congratulations to Kevin Jiang on receiving the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) from the NIH, a 4-year award for MD/PhD students. Kevin is a #neuroscience graduate student from the lab of Dr. @MingshanXue @TCHResearchNews
Thanks to @HelenXiaoyuLu , @MXGHarryLiu and @GouYueyang from @StPierreLab for developing the amazing voltage sensor JEDI-1P. It has been great working with Xiaoyu and Francois on this JEDI-1P project. We are super excited to be able to apply JEDI-1P to widefield imaging in mice!
We present you our JEDI master! JEDI-2P, a two-photon optimized fast indicator (GEVI) enables unprecedented sustained deep-tissue voltage recording. Thanks my PI's @f_stpierre advice and lab members @StPierreLab and all collaborators' amazing work! https://t.co/GVvTOqrDfr
This paper finally came out https://t.co/EVnjWkjmZa
So proud of my student @GouYueyang who characterized KCR as an optogenetic tool in neurons. A wonderful collaboration and team effort. Congratulations to all authors!
A new KCR that would work well with blue light, potentially can be used in combination with red shifted excitatory opsins. WiChR, a highly potassium selective channelrhodopsin for low-light two-photon neuronal inhibition https://t.co/gvBl9LdyHq
Congratulations to Dr. Nuo Li @bcm_neurosci for winning the 2021 Young Investigator Award from the Society for Neuroscience for his groundbreaking research! He is the 1st @bcmhouston faculty member to ever win this is ultra prestigious award in our field! https://t.co/QYkC8iS988
Congratulations to Elena, Oleg, Hai, Yumei and John @UTHealthHouston, @brown_leonid, and my student @GouYueyang@bcm_neurosci on this discovery. Kalium rhodopsins: Natural light-gated potassium channels https://t.co/k7sitmhdbQ
The last Journal Club of Term 4 took place yesterday: we are all done with this popular course for this academic year! Our awesome course directors & students are saying hi to all! 2nd pic is during Eric Gou’s presentation. Great job, everyone! #phdlife#zoomclass#onlinelearning
@NYGovCuomo A thought might be helpful to reduce the shortage of ventilation machine. Do you think it is possible to use CPAP machine together with oxygen generator for patient with less severities? It would also achieve the goad of increase blood oxygen which causes death of lot of people.
Just returned from two days in SF reviewing grants for the NIH Small Business: Neuroscience Assay, Diagnostics and Animal Model Development panel.
I'm warmed up for @elonmusk's #Neuralink event tonight.
At 8pm I'll live-tweet the event with my first-take "review" of the tech.
This is changing my life. Mathpix's "Snip" will let you screenshot an equation, and it will return the LaTeX code. Works passably on handwriting, and nearly flawlessly on pdf equations.
