A 12-year-old boy died after falling into an open drain in Patna.

The drain had reportedly been the subject of several complaints. Yet it was left open.

Imagine if this were a normally functioning system. Someone would have listened to the complaints, inspected the site, covered the drain, and potentially saved the life of a 12-year-old child.

Sadly, we don't live in a normally functioning system.

Firstly, we wait for people to die. Then we wait for their deaths to go viral on social media.

Only then does our system suddenly wakes up.
