We appreciate the partnerships we've built on mutual respect, communication and collaboration with all of North Dakota’s tribal nations and tribal leaders across the state.
The Government-to-Government Conference allows us to strengthen those relationships and work together on issues that affect all North Dakotans.
Special thanks to our keynote speaker, U.S. Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Billy Kirkland, for his continued partnership.
Workplace safety is strongest when it becomes a part of everyday decisions-making. It’s especially important in North Dakota, where our two biggest industries, agriculture and energy, are two of the most dangerous according the NSC.
We’ve proclaimed today, June 1, as Get Home Safe Day in ND. We can continue building a North Dakota where workplace safety is expected, valued and lived every day. Thank you to our team at WSI for continuing to lead this important initiative.
Great meeting with @USDA Under Secretary Fordyce today in Mapleton to share the early success of our Governor’s Legacy Soil Health and Habitat Program and discuss how the federal government can be a force multiplier to benefit landowners and sportsmen alike.
We also appreciate the partnership of the farm and wildlife groups, soil conservation districts, ND Game and Fish, and private sector partners like ConocoPhillips and the ND Petroleum Foundation who will be helping us make the case to the Legislature to scale up this initiative.
Great to kickoff the summer baseball season with the @bismarcklarks last night. Good luck to our players across North Dakota from softball to legion, from t-ball to semi-pro, and everyone in between.
On Memorial Day – and every day – we honor our heroes and remember our solemn obligation to support our veterans, care for military families and teach the next generation what service, courage and patriotism truly mean.
This week, we recognize Emergency Medical Services Week in North Dakota and thank the men and women who answer the call every hour of every day to keep our communities safe. From EMTs and paramedics to dispatchers, firefighters, nurses, law enforcement and volunteers, these dedicated professionals provide lifesaving care when North Dakotans need it most.
Whether responding to emergencies in our largest cities or our most rural communities, our first responders serve with courage, professionalism and compassion.
It’s always fun to welcome @SecretaryBurgum back to North Dakota, and it’s even better when he brings good news like this.
Thanks, Doug!

North Dakota’s future is bright, and despite domestic and global challenges, so is our oil & gas industry's. We have what the world needs, and that demand isn’t going away anytime soon.
Today at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference, we encouraged the industry to keep innovating and finding better, faster, cleaner, safer and more efficient ways of producing oil & gas as we look ahead to the next 75 years of partnership.
Great to kickoff the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck discussing 75 years of oil history in North Dakota with Ron Ness and Kathy Neset.
Also a huge thanks to @NDPetroleum Foundation and @conocophillips for contributing to the Governor’s Legacy Soil Health and Habitat Program to advance conservation efforts across our state.
Congratulations to the 2026 graduates of @ndscswildcats. We’re excited to see where your degrees take you in your many in-demand career fields. And while we hope it’s somewhere in our state, just remember: You’ll always have a home in North Dakota. 🎓

On the east side of the Capitol, 69 names are etched in stone on a monument for fallen peace officers. Those 69 individuals swore to protect and serve their communities – up to and including laying down their lives in the line of duty.
Tonight we honored their ultimate sacrifice with the North Dakota Peace Officers Memorial Service and recommitted ourselves to supporting the men and women in uniform who safeguard our communities and our citizens – not only during Police Week and on national Peace Officers Memorial Day tomorrow, but every day.
Fun tour with @GovArmstrong and First Lady Kjersti at the Explorer Academy - North Dakota’s first K-8 special education day school that serves the Fargo public school system.
They are driven by the belief that if you give kids the right supports, they can continue to be successful academically, socially and behaviorally.
Their educational approach is tailored to meet students where they are, find skills to help them succeed and participate in less restrictive environment.
Great visit with @exxonmobil at the H&P 429 rig on the Apollo Pad in western North Dakota. As technology advances, it's incredible to see how efficiently these electric drilling rigs run.
Weather’s nice - enjoy some beef today.
Thanks to ND Beef Commission for helping start summer off right, serving beef to state employees at the Capitol.

Congratulations to Director of NDGS Ed Murphy and Lignite Energy Council executive Mike Holmes on their retirements.
For nearly five decades, Ed Murphy dedicated his career to advancing our understanding of North Dakota’s geology, energy resources, land and water while helping position our state as a national leader in geoscience and energy research.
His leadership, professionalism and commitment to serving the people of North Dakota helped elevate the North Dakota Geological Survey into one of the best in the country.
Holmes dedicated his career to advancing energy innovation and strengthening North Dakota’s lignite industry and has played an important role in shaping national conversations around energy security, grid reliability and emerging technologies.
Thank you, Ed and Mike, for your service to our state. We wish you the very best in retirement.
The Bison Generation Station in Ray will be the most significant power plant project in North Dakota’s history.
Projects like this, and supporting baseload generation and diversity of energy sources, is why North Dakota consumers pay less for electricity than any other state.
Congratulations to Basin Electric on this exciting step forward.
I am blessed to have these three amazing women in my life. Thanks MaryAnn, Connie, and Kjersti for being such fantastic moms. Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there. I hope you all have a great day.
Celebrating @America250 and the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library the week of July 4th in Medora will be a historic experience.
