Yesterday, the VC of LAUTECH openly said that since the university doesn’t provide hostels, the safety of students living off-campus is not their concern. This is heartbreaking. Students are being attacked daily, robbed, beaten, and even raped. 😢

Following my earlier post this afternoon concerning the alarming rise in insecurity and robbery incidents in LAUTECH and its surrounding areas, as well as the response from the Vice Chancellor, I feel compelled to share this update.

Since making that post, I have received

We are tired of empty promises and silence. We are calling on Oyo State Government, security agencies and all relevant authorities to come to our aid. We need increased security presence, proper patrol, and serious action, not just words.

Education should not be a death sentence.
We deserve to feel safe in our own environment.

Students were brutalized, injured, and robbed last semester, yet no meaningful action was taken. Now school has resumed, and many students are scared to return due to those unresolved experiences.
