Little Ringed Plover are a rare breeding bird in Oxfordshire and we’re very lucky to monitor a site with three breeding pairs nesting in the drawdown zone of a small wetland complex. This week two of these clutches hatched revealing these beautifully camouflaged chicks.
Please take TWO minutes to sign this petition, it takes 000’s of hours each year removing it to save native habitats from degradation.

Thousands of Nettle Tree butterflies (Libythea celtis) are being enjoyed by our group in northern Greece right now. An amazing sight!

Good morning from the Pyrenees (France & Spain). The butterflies continue coming thick & fast - all target species & many more. And that's without mentioning all the other flora & fauna. What a fantastic time our group is having!
Lapwing with 2 young on the reserve. All the first broods of Lapwing failed probably due to predation.the cold weather, lack of vegetation for cover.Looks like the second broods might be more successful.@NosterfieldLNR@HanbyAndrew@nybirdnews@HarrogateNats

These funky little Ermine moth caterpillars like cosying up with each other in webs for safety. They strip vegetation but it’s not a long-term problem and they are not harmful. Look for the ghostly silken webbing on sections of hedgerows.
I am lucky to be part of a local Nature Recovery project in the East of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, which is a 7 hectar chalk grassland field. Today, I recorded this grizzled skipper, which is our first record. Small changes can enable big wins.
