@AoCDavidH@SusanPember@CIPD The review seems to cover all the valuable and necessary objectives of the apprenticeship system. All are critical but some re-balancing is needed. All age, yes. Priority for under 25’s and a guarantee, yes. Totally linked to their real job, vital.Deserves serious consideration.
The announcement of £6k incentives for college staff delivering critically important skills is most welcome. The refusal to similarly treat staff working for ITPs (delivering 70% of apprenticeships) borders on the ?? Does this display ‘just’ ignorance or something more sinister?
When AELP ( then ALP) was formed in 2002 a core objective was to promote the visibility of ITPs and argue for a ‘level playing field’ on which all skills providers could operate. Over 20 years, considerable progress has been made. Until now!
I am delighted the Down’s Syndrome Bill has passed committee stage. This bill, led by @LiamFox and supported by the government, will improve access to health, education, social care and housing for people with Down’s Syndrome across England. #DownSyndromeBill
@FEWeek No!100% are carried out by/in EMPLOYERS. Many colleges deliver the off the job theoretical input and 30% are contracted to organise the complete package.ITPs doing the other 70%.No employer, no apprenticeship.Getting them engaged is the hard bit.30/70 seems to be the success rate
@FEWeek Our little scheme has been straightforward. Two vacancies. Two applicants. Two jobs. Training plans activated. Funding received. Two enthusiastic recruits. Early days but looking good.
@SusanPember So often leads/incentivises them to go higher and achieve their real potential for everyone’s benefit.Their own, their employer, family, economy and society as a whole. An investment with often incalculable returns.

@SkillsTrain_UK @AELPUK Dead right Martin. Ideally based in the workplace of course. Need to be wary of new(old) models based off the job, though I realise these are difficult times and I am probably locked in the past. What was that Traineeship thing.......?
@AnnaMorrisonCBE@AELPUK@OpenUniversity@AmazingAppsUK @Laura_Burley And if the 52% that didn’t, stopped and recalled that WBL was a/the key element in their own work history/success, they might re-assess how vital WBL is for all companies’ future success and that of their staff.
Apprenticeships “ probably the best training model” says EU.Massive investment being made in Australia.Fundamental truths still yet to be fully grasped and acted upon by UK Govt.Ask yourself” where did you learn most about how to do your current/past job(s)” At work! WBL the core
