@AvonandsomerRob Got a Merc people carrier from St Pancras to Harlow in Essex. It had really noisy plug in fans. Tge driver said he cant run the air-conditioning or heating in the day because, along with driving in the motorway it knocks the mileage to sh*t. 🤷‍♂️

@K3brows @Veritatem2021 Global surface temperature lack sufficient coverage, history with siting issues and are invariably skewed by UHI. Surface temperatures using purely 'rural' sites, show much less warming and a good correlation with solar activity and cloud cover.

@RichardSwan1982 @jackklok It was the use of fossil fuels that enabled the rise of modern medicine, sanitation, scientific progress and hence increased longevity. CO2 is an insignificant by product.

The @Telegraph reports that suppliers will be granted powers to cut power to heat pumps in order to reduce demand when the electricity grid is under stress

Initially this will only be with the consent of the householder but it might just be the start of a slippery slope

How can you avoid this - don't get a smart meter. They aren't mandatory (yet). And don't get a heat pump because they also are not mandatory (yet)

As I say in the article, the grid should serve us consumers, not the other way round

I heard first hand from people suffering during the gas crisis when the Demand Flexibility Service was introduced. They would sit in bed or in their cars, turning off everything that used electricity, in order to save pennies off their bills, while rich people with EVs and swimming pools gamed the system and made hundreds of pounds

Demand flexibility is literally a transfer of wealth from poor people to rich people and it has no place in a modern society

Build enough generation and grid capacity to do the job properly and let people live in peace
