Exciting news. With the introduction of a new fourth class tonight, Epsom Junior Chess Club will have over 100 pupils attending the club for the first time. The level of interest is staggering and continues to amaze us - we are doing our best to accommodate demand.
Join us as FM Sergey Korshunov takes on IM Sohum Lohia in a 4-round FIDE-rated rapidplay match on 19th of April.
This exhibition match is part of the 4th Sussex University Congress, in support of Doctors Without Borders (@MSF).

For the first time tonight, the number of children attending Epsom Junior Chess Club on Thursday evenings reached 90 pupils. The thirst for #chess among juniors in our area is staggering and the latest talent just keeps rolling off the production line and into our adult teams.
@cheamhigh you need to teach your pupils to move down the bus. All standing in the middle and not moving. Preventing passengers getting on. Most only going to Cheam village so could easily have walked.
🌟 Congratulations to Peter Sullivan! 🌟
FIDE has recognised Peter with a Certificate of Appreciation for his incredible voluntary work bringing chess into prisons. Since 2017, he’s set up clubs in 20 prisons, using chess to support rehabilitation.
We wish to thank our neighbours, Surbiton Chess Club, for providing additional digital clocks to allow us to stage the Kingston Invitational. We also send our condolences to the family and clubmates of the late Paul Durrant, Surbiton's long-time chair and all-round inspiration.
Deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of our long-time Oxford @4NCL captain, Tim Dickinson, FIDE International Arbiter. A dedicated captain, true chess connoisseur, and a genuinely lovely person. You will be greatly missed, Tim... https://t.co/XTQ6Xr2N8U
Visiting St John’s church, Stoneleigh

It’s not often that a modern church can be said to have been built at the same time as a purpose-built town, but that happened in the 1930s on London’s borders.
@SESWater I did that yesterday. It’s taken you 24 hours and a reminder for you to do anything. They haven’t received any water though.
You should be delivering to every household.
Can I send you an invoice for the time and expense of doing your job for you?
@LukeTaylorLD Not everyone has a car. Without one getting water is not feasible for many, not just the vulnerable. They need to be arranging for it to be delivered.
@chesstutor@richtwickchess@PaulBarasi In an ideal world all clubs would have separate rooms for matches and social chess. Finding such venues that are affordable is very difficult especially in London
@LukeTaylorLD Aren’t they supposed to provide a significant quantity of water to residents. Many are unable to visit bottle stations without transport, not just those that are vulnerable. Nothing from Sutton council either.
