As you sit boiling in the heat, never forget that all those people who for decades have deliberately and maliciously disrupted efforts to tackle climate change are probably sitting comfortable in their large air conditioned houses.
Those houses were likely funded on the back of lies and misinformation they helped propagate.
The goalkeeper you see prostrating in front of you is genuinely living the best days of his life.
This is Benjamin Asare, Ghana’s 33-year-old goalkeeper, who made three saves today and kept a clean sheet against England before celebrating after the game with this prostration.
What makes his story special is that almost nobody knew who he was. For most of his career, he played in Ghana’s second division. On top of that, his financial situation was so difficult that he had to work on cocoa farms for three straight years just to support his family and keep his football dream alive.
The remarkable part is that Asare kept pushing until he earned a move to Ghanaian top-flight side Accra Hearts of Oak in 2025. He then received his first-ever call-up to the Ghana national team during the World Cup qualifiers, where he played six games and conceded just one goal.
Asare went on to become the first Ghanaian player in history to represent his country at a World Cup while playing in the domestic league. He also made six saves across games against Panama and England and didn’t concede a single goal.
Glory to those who never stop working for their dreams. To every Ghanaian reading this: congratulations. You should be proud. Stories like Benjamin Asare’s are what make football beautiful, and seeing one of your own rise from cocoa farms to the World Cup stage is something worth celebrating. 🇬🇭❤️
It was so good to see you all again.
Thank you for making me feel so loved and respected during my second spell at the club.
I’ll always be grateful for your support.
Wishing you all the very best, always. ❤️
Suella Braverman spouting pure divisive lies about discrimination against white people. No evidence whatsoever just pure LIES.
Why wasn't she challenged @SkyNews?
She also knows the the law protects everyone from being sacked for things like age disabilities, or pregnancy.
This is just absurd, it’s madness, it’s extremism, it’s dangerous.
Elon Musk can say what he likes about me but I won't stay silent whilst foreign tech billionaires, money earned off the backs of real workers, try to interfere in our democracy, incite violence in our communities and tear apart our country.
Time for him to pipe down.
🏆 Referee announced for 2026 #SuperCup!
We're pleased to share that Somali referee Omar Artan will officiate the highly anticipated match between PSG and Aston Villa in Salzburg.
An event is planned to be hosted in London proudly promoting the sale of land on illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
This is obscene. I've called on @MayorofLondon and @YvetteCooperMP to stop the event and for this govt to take real action on illegal settlements.
BREAKING: Iran's World Cup team arrives in Mexico for the tournament wearing pins that read "#168" in honor of the children that Trump slaughtered in his illegal bombing of a school in Minab.
MAGA is beyond furious...
The design of the pins draws on a prominent internet hashtag and refers to the number of kids who were killed in the strike on February 28, 2026. While the White House and Israel still refuse to take responsibility for the massacre, The New York Times has reported that U.S. officials are aware that America was behind the attack.
The Iranian players were not displaying the pins when they departed from training in Turkey over the weekend, but donned them during a refueling stop in Spain so that they would be visible when they disembarked in Mexico.
The X account for Iran's embassy in Hungary posted a closeup image of the pin. Several posts later, they shared a depiction of the Statue of Liberty holding up a shredded backpack covered in blood.
The response from Republicans has been, predictably, equal parts bloodthirsty and deranged. Many MAGA supporters have dismissed concerns about the bombing, glibly stating that "people die in wars." Others are denying Trump's involvement, while still others are blaming Iran for refusing to fully surrender and capitulate before the strike happened.
All of these rationalizations are heartless and morally repugnant. Those little Iranian children were killed because Trump decided to start an illegal war of aggression on behalf of Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu. No American interests were at stake. Iran posed no threat to the United States. Our own intelligence agencies concluded that Iran was not pursuing nuclear weapons.
This pointless, costly, evil war was launched because Israel wants to destroy the sole regional adversary willing to oppose their unfettered territorial expansion. Look no further than Lebanon right now for the geopolitical truth.
Israel is murdering innocent people, demolishing villages, and seizing land that does not belong to them. Since March 2 of this year, over 1.2 million people have been displaced. Through its proxies, Iran poses a threat to Israel's wholesale slaughter and barbaric conquest. That's why Trump attacked.
One need not support the theocratic Iranian government to oppose this war. It's wrong on every level, and those who remain silent will be judged by future generations.
Please share if you refuse to forget the innocent children that Trump killed.
EXCLUSIVE: More than half of former Labour voters who intent to back a centre or leftwing party in the next general election have cited the government's record on Gaza as a reason for abandoning Labour, new polling shows.
giving the world cup to the usa was a stupid decision.
this tournament was supposed to bring the world together. instead we’re talking about shootings, visa issues, travel restrictions and whether fans from certain countries will even be able to attend
Keir Starmer announcing AI tutors for schoolchildren, and AI Jobseekers tools that will write CVs,
How many millions/billions are we spending on this trash when we could actually be hiring more teachers and creating jobs to get the job done properly?
Pete Hegseth's D-Day speech was a grotesque, ignorant, and idiotic desecration of the memory of every Allied soldier who stormed Normandy — nothing but pure American white supremacist stupidity.
To stand at the graves of young men who gave their lives fighting an actual Nazi invasion and then equate desperate migrants in rubber boats with the Third Reich is beyond disrespectful — it's morally bankrupt, historically illiterate garbage.
Those heroes liberated Europe from the same kind of fascistic tyranny the authoritarian Trump regime is promoting in America, not from immigrants seeking a better life. Weaponizing their sacrifice for cheap far-right anti-immigration rhetoric dishonors their graves and exposes Hegseth as a comic-book nobody utterly deaf to history.
Shame on him. Pure, self-important vulgarity.
Like him or loathe him but, on this particular matter, Keir Starmer is 100% correct.
Farage’s response yesterday shows us ‘exactly who he is’… a rage-bating racist with no respect nor conscience.
His followers refuse to see it… which tells you all you need to know about them.
Israel yesterday kidnapped four women. Two are footballers in the Palestinian National Team.
Their names are: Natali Abu Dia and Rand Halwani.
Is it normal to kidnap footballers, @FIFAcom? Where are sports media organisations? This story should be the headline everywhere.
The Press owned by billionaires have been stoking fear and racial tension for years.
Now billionaire backed Farage is yet again inciting riots on our streets.
This has to end. We must stand united against the far-right.
Unfortunately, the current level of supplies for our air defense does not allow us to intercept a significant share of missiles. Last night, there were hits. 130 people were injured. Tragically, 22 people were killed, including two children. My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones.
We know from intelligence that another large-scale strike may come as soon as tonight. All our partners together, and everyone in Europe, should continue working to ensure missiles for our air defense, as well as the systems, critical intelligence, and other things that help to save lives.
It is crystal clear that Europe needs its own anti-ballistic system with sufficient volumes and strength to guarantee protection against any threat.
