From our CIO Robert Koenigsberger: All eyes are on the fragile Israel-Iran ceasefire. But Iran could still attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz, which would lead oil prices to spike. According to @GoldmanSachs a 50% reduction in flows could drive Brent to $110 bbl.
From our CIO Robert Koenigsberger: Well that was seemingly quick. Hence the fast reversal in risk market sentiment. But questions remain:
Is this a real cease-fire or a pause?
What are the terms of the agreement? Most agreements have some sort of quid-pro-quo. #iran-israel
Reflecting historical market behavior that has worked well, financial markets are comfortable this morning partially unwinding Friday's geopolitically-induced moves.
This is reflected in higher US equity futures, alongside declines in gold and oil prices.
Meanwhile, US government bond yields, which unexpectedly edged higher on Friday, are extending that move this morning, with the 10-year yield at 4.45%.
