@DanielBAharoni @MiniscopeTeam
Is there a 3D file of the v4 miniscope? I found the baseplate & protective cap on GitHub but don't see a complete miniscope. I'm looking to make a figure for a grant submission & would like to include the v4 miniscope in my render... Thanks!
@Prairie_Fairy_ I work w/ grad students that have had to wait >6 months to get reimbursed ~$2k for attending conferences... Flight, hotel, & registration out of pocket... Universities don't care... If they did, they would have different systems in place to prevent these hardships.
@miccheckdis@CP3 This video is hardly proof... There are a ton of gaps/holes... Bottom line, you can't touch other people without their permission. It's up to the police/courts to decide if it meets legal criteria.
@ItaiYanai We should focus NIH research on research... Create large research centers. The centers would function more like industry, hiring research professionals w/ specific functions. No more grants... No more journals... just scientists doing science. More efficient & productive.
@ItaiYanai In my opinion, academic research cannot optimally train students AND do high quality research. We have to pick one or the other, or both will suffer... What's the goal of academic research? Training or research? I think a separation is long overdue.
@ItaiYanai We should focus academic research on training students. Prof salary is paid by the university. Gov provides a research stipend to cover X number of student trainees at an institution. Prof focus on teaching & training students rather than submitting an endless number of grants.
@ItaiYanai I love when my PI and senior members present... I try to not only learn the topic of the presentation but improve my own presentation skills... Particularly fond of presentations on science history and presentations about PI skills not covered in grad school.
@Emaperidol Being single is liberating but there is more to life than the freedom to eat mint chocolate chip ice cream on pepperoni pizza while you pet your dog in a bunny custom watching true crime documentaries...
@Emaperidol No, you're right... We all start somewhere... But maybe help him out and give him some peds you're always talking about to help build some muscle...
@cryo2go @NeuroPolarbear There is a HUGE ski bum community... People that LOVE the mountains and LIVE to ski... People that value the mountain culture over money... Rich in experience but not so much in their wallets.
@NeuroPolarbear There are also other activities in the mountains, like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating that have lower financial barriers to entry... And there's also tubing/sledding, that can be very cheap with little skill needed.
@NeuroPolarbear I grew up in the mtns & love to ski. Just a heads up for the many people saying skiing is elitist... You're kinda right. There's definitely a lot of wealth in skiing, but I grew up on hand me down gear from the ski swap to hike and ski the hills/mountains behind my house.
