NAIROBI CITY COUNTY, KENYA
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2025.
Today, I visited the CBC Gravity Centre along Nairobi’s Eastern Bypass, a model facility offering practical, learner-centred lessons that utilise locally sourced materials and innovations to advance Competency-Based Education (CBE). The Centre integrates hands-on modules in agriculture, home science, performing arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), effectively bridging the gap between theory and practice.
The visit included learning zones demonstrating the three career pathways—Arts and Sports, Social Sciences and STEM—where learners applied knowledge in real-life domestic and health science contexts.
The Centre plays a vital role in enhancing learners’ practical understanding of CBE, guiding pathway choices and preparing them for post-education careers, particularly in schools with limited resources.
I call for strengthened collaboration between the government, the private sector and education stakeholders to replicate such facilities across all counties, ensuring equitable access to quality, hands-on learning for every learner.
Approved. Trusted. Ready to Guide Learners.
This morning, the CEO of Gravity CBE Centre, Mr. Duncan M. Arimi proudly received the approved copies of our Pathways Made Easier series of books from KICD CEO, Prof. Charles Ong'ondo.
Grateful for this milestone!

@KNECKenya Thank you @KNECKenya
We extend our sincere appreciation to Kenya National Examinations Council for the opportunity to partner and present at the 3rd Annual Educational Assessment Symposium, 2026.
Stakeholders participate in the technical alignment, peer review and scoping workshop on strengthening Competency Based Assessment in Senior School. The participants, who included teachers, researchers and other education experts, had insightful deliberations, including peer review and expert input on Senior School Assessment Framework, Community Service Learning, Dual Certification and career choices. The one-day workshop took place at the KNEC Educational Assessment Resource Centre (EARC) in Nairobi.#CBA #KNEC #workshop
Duncan Arimi, CEO Gravity CBC Resource Centre: This is the first assessment for Grade 9 and the learners should be given an opportunity to interact with the pilot papers that have been prepared by KNEC to showcase what to expect. We have realized a lot of teachers are not taking this seriously and if they don’t prepare the learners, then the learners will get resources that don’t showcase their real ability #CitizenMondayReport
Children around the world are facing a learning crisis.
While progress has been made, the journey is far from over.
It's time for countries to accelerate action so children can gain the skills they need to thrive.
