iām sure many of you saw the tribute to bryce adair at the start of the golf broadcast yesterday.
bryce and i went to elementary school together before becoming coworkers at the network. we traveled all over the country together. we worked on countless shows together. and after work, we shared hundreds of meals together and watched basketball or hockey or whatever sports were on tv during the golf seasons of summer.
i will miss bryce every day for the rest of my life. he was the kindest, most loving person i have ever met. he took time for everyone. helped anyone that ever askedā and did it happily. i wanted to be more like him. i still do.
iām so deeply sad that bryce never got a chance to have a familyā he talked so often about things he wanted to do for his kids one day. he would have been an amazing dad.
iāve lost family before but iāve never lost a brother. every time we left a show or parted ways, he made sure to tell me he loved me.
i love you, bryce.
Rarely do you hear Jim Nantz be emotional on air. He just was with a beautiful tribute to Bryce Adair. Obvious how much Bryce meant to the CBS Sports family.
Our CBS family lost a great friend and colleague today. Bryce Adair brought joy to our crew, he was a kind soul and a true gentleman. I will remember him for his infectious smile, his love for the Eagles and music. I will miss our high fives on the sidelines and football talks in the car. He will be sorely missed ā¤ļø
Really couldnāt be happier to see how Aronimink is playing through two days.
The best part is, the course didnāt have to get bastardized to do it.
Sure, the rough is a little deeper, the greens are a little faster and the pins are a little tougher than youād see on a regular Sunday, but not all that different than youād get for the club championship final.
At bottom, the course is rewarding good shots and punishing bad ones. If youāre out of position off the tee or hit a mediocre approach, the greens, which are treacherous, will make you pay - itās not enough just to recover from the rough by getting it on to the putting surface somewhere. Youāve gotta be in the right spot on the green, and to get there, you need to be in the right spot in the fairway.
I hope we see more of it this weekend, but as a local, Iām happy for the club and its members that its course is standing up so well and proving a worth major host.
Trevor Immelman has seen the mountaintop.
He won the Masters, landed the biggest job in golf TV, and watched an entire sport come to linger on his every word.
But after a day together this spring, I learned he's clinging to a higher calling:
The climb.

Worth monitoring: Rory McIlroy, who is dealing with a blister underneath toe nail, left the course Tuesday after playing 3 holes. He took shoe off in 3rd fairway, finished hole, took shoe off again on 4th tee before going in. Iām told heās in clubhouse now trying different shoes.
CBS Sports is set to broadcast the PGA Championship for the 36th consecutive year. Live multiplatform coverage from Aronimink Golf Club will be led by third and final rounds airing Saturday-Sunday from 1:00-7:00 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
