⚡️⚔️UPDATE - Heavy shelling and significant defections mark ongoing conflict in Simada Woreda.

📍South Gonder Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia

🔵 On November 5th, regime forces launched a relentless shelling campaign across Welela-Bahir, Gedeba, Agona, and Simada-Megenteya using ZU-23 anti-aircraft guns. The shelling aimed to suppress Fano resistance as regime forces attempted to capture Wegeda, the administrative center for Simada and Sede-Muja Woredas.

⭕️ The indiscriminate shelling by regime forces resulted in the destruction of five residential villages in Gedeba, Agona, and Welela-Bahir town. No civilian casualties were reported during the shelling.

🔵 On November 4th, Fano fighters launched a surprise assault in Wiha-Midir Kebele, resulting in the deaths of four high-ranking military officers and a Prosperity Party official.

🔵 The regime’s campaign faced further setbacks due to significant defections. Over the past week, more than 100 regime soldiers, including a captain, defected to join Fano fighters in Estie Woreda, with additional defections reported in Tach-Gayint Woreda, though exact numbers are unconfirmed.
