@odogwuhyke@ShehuSani Don't mind the nonsense Man whom I taught I had regards for but ended up seeking representation with a killer party.
Shameless old punks
@DanielRegha Shameless and horrible political bigot. Do you have a party to start with?
Terrible influencers with poor backgrounds telling us what is and what not.
In 2017, a Nigerian businessmanโs shipment of Fanta and Sprite was seized and destroyed in the UK because the benzoic acid levels were unsafe for consumption.
Thatโs when the truth came out: those drinks were never meant for the UK market. Same brand, same company but completely different quality depending on where you live.
Nigeriaโs NAFDAC allows 250mg of benzoic acid per litre in soft drinks. The UK limit is just 150mg. In our hot climate, the companies add even more. Independent tests have found some drinks reaching 300โ400mg.
Hereโs the problem: benzoic acid (sodium benzoate) reacts with vitamin C (ascorbic acid) especially in heat to form benzene, a Group 1 carcinogen. Nigeria is a very hot country. Yet weโre given higher amounts of this preservative.
The companies and NAFDAC say higher levels are needed because products spoil faster in heat. But if heat makes the chemical more dangerous, why add more of it here?
There are still no clear warnings on the bottles. Most Nigerians have no idea.
NAFDAC approval doesnโt mean the product is safe by international standards. It means it passed Nigeriaโs lower standard. We have become a dumping ground for substandard goods.
Children are even more at risk. Their smaller bodies absorb more damage from sugar, artificial additives, and these chemicals. Weโre already seeing kidney problems in young people that shouldnโt be happening.
Parents, please pay attention. Your childrenโs health is being built right now by what you give them daily.
Better options exist:
โข Zobo (hibiscus drink)
โข Kunu
โข Tiger nut milk (Kunnu aya)
โข Coconut water
โข Homemade fruit juices and smoothies
โข Ginger drink, tamarind drink
Make them yourself so you know exactly whatโs inside.
Look out for your family. The government and companies wonโt. Your health and your childrenโs future is worth more than a cold drink.
Health is wealth.
P.S. Check labels. If you see both sodium benzoate and vitamin C, be extra careful. And yes, most mass-produced soft drinks are unhealthy even without the benzoic acid issue.
@Healthwolf2@CatiaKyen Verify yours too. That's how we learn instead of asking for more.
It's like making tea for you to drink and you're asking if it's hot .
He has done his abs pasted, find out about the research and add to the knowledge.

Pro-sovereign media like The Spearhead can only do so much in raising the mental level of our people.
The real magic bullet is the primary and secondary education syllabus. If I ever hold state power, there will be a once-in-a-century earthquake at the Ministry of Education. The new syllabus will not be an updated version of the current one. It will be a completely different one that nobody is familiar with. A syllabus designed to prepare children to understand their developing country and grow up to take control of its destiny, not one designed to prepare them to pass anstract exams so that they can be plucked and harvested by oyibo people.
When I get my way, by the time a Nigerian kid writes their junior WAEC, they will know exactly who they are, where they come from, their place in the world, and where they are going. That's the only way to sweep out the decrepit millennial and Gen X generations who are already beyond redemption, and replace them with younger Gen Z's, Alphas and Betas who understand how the world works and know how to be useful to themselves within it.
@olam_xx@davido@_iamtolulope@AAdeleke_01 Great artists you claim raise awareness so the youths who can will have a voice and be political leaders too. Stop being myopic in thinking ๐ค
