We're going to have to repeat a lot that many Jewish people don't support Israel's genocide.
Criticism of the Israeli Government and their war crimes has nothing to do with who is or isn't Jewish.
To conflate them like this is both harmful and antisemitic.
Andy Burnham burning his bridges by failing to express a clear moral condemnation of Israel.
These weasel words suggest he could be Labour's Kamala Harris, needlessly alienating the left and Muslim voters that are needed to defeat Farage - as they were to beat Trump.
Remember, there are millions who won't even vote tactically for Labour unless they address their disastorus complicity in Gaza.
@amijudjes@HadleyFreeman She’s not trivialising the Holocaust. She’s trivialising herself by trivialising war-crime allegations and other considerations of rehabilitation, de-radicalisation, public safety, and national security.
@HadleyFreeman That’s a stupid idea Hadley. It would be equating their actions, some of which are possibly criminal, with their Jewish ethnicity. This would feed antisemitism. Better to keep a record of all people who have returned from service with the IDF and investigate any alleged crimes.
@gensynergy@SangitaMyska@ZackPolanski Anyone who went to Gaza to fight in Hamas operations would be questioned on their return. I’m not going to catalogue IDF war crimes since Oct 7.for you. We’ve all witnessed various breaches on our devices for 3 years. It’s important to establish if any Brits were involved in them
@Shambles151 I can judge things of that enormity from my home in Somerset. Is this a geographical issue, or one that affects mayors in general? And would Andy be better able to judge international situations if he was the Prime Minister.?
Really good news. Over the last 15 years the world gained more mangroves than it has lost, thanks to stronger legal protections following the 2004 tsunami which proved their importance in protecting coasts. Also vital for fish and in absorbing carbon.

@lauferlaw@CamillaTominey The idea that UK citizens should be immune from criminal investigation if they happen to be Jewish doesn’t really make sense does it?
@jacksimony@CamillaTominey Are you against monitoring people who return from participation in combat for foreign powers in general, or just in relation to those who join IDF operations? If so, can you explain why?
Peace activist Rachel Corrie, crushed to death in Gaza in 2003 by an Israeli army bulldozer destroying sections of Rafah city, wrote in her diary:
“I just want to write to my mom and tell her that I’m witnessing this chronic, insidious genocide and I’m really scared, and questioning my fundamental belief in the goodness of human nature.”
Rafah, like the rest of Gaza's cities and villages, is now gone – laid waste in that genocide Rachel Corrie saw unfolding 20 years earlier.
@OsheaVincent@ZacGoldsmith It’s nothing like that. It’s exactly what I would expect to happen if I left the UK to fight in someone else’s combat operations - ie with Kurdish combatants against Daesh etc.
@ZacGoldsmith Do you accept on principle then that any British National should be able to join military action by foreign powers, participate in lethal operations, and fight for foreign causes elsewhere without judicial or security scrutiny upon their return to the UK?
