I aim to not work on Sundays but sometimes it happens. I try and move slower and enjoy the process a little bit more. A beautiful day and a field with nice views has me feeling grateful to be a farmer. I hope everyone has found the time to enjoy the process this spring.

@untappedgrowth Is this a symptom of the rise of feminism? Men lost their agency to act like men, and had to become soft around the edges to fit the mould. No more gender roles, or trust in men, leading to kids not getting a hard shaping of their beliefs and ethics from the father.

@herdyshepherd1 What do you reckon she weighs? What weight is the calf when you wean?
For comparison my cows probably average 1600-1700lb calved Mid May and averaged 660 steers come end of November. 70 years ago cows on this ranch weighed 900-1100lbs... thanks from Alberta Canada

@imkice It's along a creek valley that's not suitable for haying. Wouldn't put trees anywhere near hay fields or crop land.

Has anyone put trees into their pasture on the prairies? I'm thinking some cottonwoods along a creek that floods most years would provide some good shade and possibly promote more grass growth? Along with increasing the aesthetic value of the property.
