🚨 ANIMAL CRUELTY CONVICTION: FRANCIS (FRANK) CROFT, 63, BLACKLEY, MANCHESTER M9

A geriatric dog beaten so violently he had to be put to sleep — and the court gave this man just a THREE‑YEAR ban.

This case is obscene. It is insulting. And it is yet another example of the UK’s broken sentencing system for animal cruelty.

THE VICTIM: GEORGIE, 21 YEARS OLD
Georgie was a frail, elderly Staffordshire bull terrier, described as a kind‑hearted creature who simply pottered around the house.
He had lived with his owner since he was just weeks old. He was family.

On 16 March, Georgie was subjected to a vicious, sustained attack inside a flat in Blackley.

🔴 THE ATTACK

Witnesses saw Francis Croft:

— Kick Georgie, causing him to yelp in pain
— Beat him with a wooden mop handle
— Strike him repeatedly with an ashtray
— Leave him motionless, bleeding from the head

A vet later confirmed Georgie had suffered:

— A skull fracture
— A traumatic brain injury
— Injuries so severe that the only humane option was euthanasia

Croft later bragged that he had “done Brad’s dog”.

⚖️ THE COURT HEARING
Croft claimed Georgie bit him — yet:

— He never mentioned this to police
— There was no evidence

And even if it had happened, the judge said it offered no justification whatsoever

Croft, said to be a chronic drug user, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

❗ THE SENTENCE

Jail time: 3 years and 9 months
A THREE‑YEAR ban on keeping animals

A three‑year ban for a man who beat a geriatric dog so brutally that his skull fractured.

This is not protection.
This is not deterrence.
This is not justice.

A man who already owned a dog was given a ban so short he’ll legally be allowed another animal before long — despite demonstrating cruelty, sadism, and a total disregard for life.

This case highlights, yet again, the urgent need for:

— Lifetime bans for serious cruelty
— Sentencing that reflects the gravity of the harm done.
