@AliEldrazi I appreciate you saying how you feel. I'm sure it's hard to describe but hollow is a good word.
The equivalent for me is skipping the prerelease and limited RCQs. Beyond my disinterest in UB, it's the increased cost. I'm definitely not paying more for something I don't like.
@Hoods1994@Card_Kingdom 100%. Lorwyn not being a block was a crime.
New mechanics need two sets. I really liked Warp from EoE, but it came and went.
Bloomburrow and Wilds of Eldraine would have been great 2-set blocks. I really cant think of one that wouldn't.
@CptAncapistan@Card_Kingdom Nah. I thought this too, at first. After thinking about it some more, only a couple of 3-set blocks were great. It would be cool to see a 3-set blocks again, but 2-set is the sweet spot.
@Card_Kingdom This is a fact not a hot take.
2-set blocks are needed. Everything's just settings and characters with no story. Mechanics like Warp from EoE needed more than one set.
Lorwyn flopped because it was not a block. Other sets like bloomburrow would have improved from being a block.
@JimDavisMTG Would you agree that all magic sets are just characters and settings with no world building since moving away from blocks? For instance, Lorwyn Eclipsed was so anticlimactic because it just showed up and left without explanation; just some cards.
This is a good point. It also relates to normal Magic sets. Since getting rid of blocks, wotc stopped telling their own stories, too. We just get a cast of characters.
BRING BACK 2-SET BLOCKS! @wizards_magic
I'll also say that I think it's very possible (although harder) to build a world with a Marvel set. It probably requires focusing more on a specific story rather than a huge cast of characters, but it seems like it should still work.
@caro_irl I will only if some trusted sources say the limited environment is decent. Otherwise, it will be avoided. Hasbro needs to learn monetary consequences of forcing too many products on us. I kinda hope it's terrible so I can avoid it which makes me feels bad.
The irony about Marvel basically being a commander set is that I don't want to taint my commander decks with marvel cards.
For standard or modern, this doesn't bother me as much, even though I don't like it.
Marvel feels infinitely better as an IP in Magic than ninja turtles
