@backandacross Well. You don’t see that very often but it is 4 byes. That took off and flew over the keeper who would have needed a step ladder to take that. As usual, the fines committee show no mercy though and that is another £5 in the kitty for the end of season lash up.
@backandacross Sharp bit of fielding. Church had done a Bairstow and wandered out of his crease and so the fielder had a cheeky shy at the stumps. It missed but the intent was clear. Need to keep those concentration levels up!
@flash_robamy@NickyZog That I agree with 100%! I live in Manchester so events in Hollyrood don’t impact me greatly - however, it does my absolute nut in that both governments actively fight each other to the detriment of everyone across the different nations in the UK.
@flash_robamy@NickyZog My point isn’t a political one. It may be the SNP that caused Grangemouth to close but the UK Government is responsible for ensuring UK wide availability of fuel and Grangemouth was part of that supply. Not ensuring it stayed open reduced UK resilience and that is madness.
@backandacross Good comeback from Sunday after Saturday’s shambolic display. The batter will have felt that but with a puff of the cheeks and a twirl of the bat he is ready to face the new week. Minnie Mouse, meanwhile, is still totally unimpressed with proceedings at first slip.
@backandacross Church’s patience is rewarded with a slow and wide full toss which gets the full treatment. This is followed by the most elegant of post shot poses. Glorious stuff. Meanwhile feel for poor Saturday who gets banished to third man for 6 days.
@backandacross Good batting. After a barrage of short pitched stuff the batter could be forgiven for being on the back foot but like the class batsman that he is Church treats every ball on its merits.
@backandacross A wasted ball. That was too short and Church was able to duck underneath effortlessly. Like his idol, Viv Richards, Church bats without a chest pad or helmet. Good to see the Churchillian spirit is alive and well.
@WG_RumblePants@nickfshort Scotland rather than England but for the most perfect, unspoilt and easily accessible beach I raise you with the West Sands at St Andrews
@backandacross An absolute beauty of a delivery. Wednesday really bent his back there and produced a delivery with real venom. The lidless Church leaves it to the last second before swaying out of the way. Good cricket all round.
@John_Howieson Make sure you don’t let that happen. Water being sold off down here was an absolute crime. I would love water to be back in public hands but I just don’t see it ever happening and we will forever be worse off because of it.
@murdo_fraser@JohnSwinney Any organisation with any shred of competent governance would insist on segregation of duties and dual authorisation of payments to protect themselves against fraud. This really smells.
@backandacross The pressure was on the batter after 2 dot balls. Not an issue - that is a shocking delivery by Monday which is given the full treatment. Minnie Mouse at first slip is so disgusted by that delivery that she can’t speak.
@WG_RumblePants I loved the John Player League. Games often played at outgrounds - games of cricket on the outfield between innings. Also, it never seemed to rain on Sundays…..
@StephenMorganMP So, businesses have been hit with higher NI, higher rates and higher energy costs (to name 3) and you expect that they will pass this on. Sure they will….. You tried this in 2008 when you cut VAT to 15% and it had no benefit then either. Clueless.
