An AI broke into one of the most secure systems on the internet by itself last month.
No humans. No hackers. Just an AI, following an instruction.
Every password on every connected system is now reachable. Faster patching is not the fix.
This is.
@MastrXYZ Love your commentary because you say the things I have been saying for a long time. Weโve built the only actual blockchain that actually works. Weโve done things the hard way because it matters. Blockchain, not the crypto casino, is how we free ourselves and restore humanity.
Problematic: where those super efficient miners are (Iran), the cost/risk of adjustment (massive capital assignment for uncertain returns). the risk of lagging which can - is proving to be - substantial and the underlying mining economics fail: transaction fees are supposed to provide the basis for network security. 0.6% of price. Ultimately that last one is the death of the number go up version of Bitcoin. Whatโs left is a highly inefficient peer to peer payment system.
@vasylzahorodnuk You call anonymous proof of stake decentralised, but itโs really just decentralisation theatre.
Decentralisation is possible, but it takes real courage and conviction to do it and recognise that there needs to be a tension between trustless and trusted.

Interesting from @stackhodler, and not the end of this story either:

This out of the University of Toronto is even more alarming that the threat of future capacity:

@stackhodler, the reality is that the crypto industry has never taken itself seriously. The NPM hack last year was a tiny error away from compromising every wallet. @MetaMask has over 212,600 dependencies. Its previous response to security was the laughable LavaMoat.

AI is going to reduce crypto to what it is: an extractive farce that uses the pretence of decentralisation to avoid oversight.

This is exactly the kind of errant, irresponsible โreportingโ that crypto relies upon to gain legitimacy. The only way in which Hyperliquid is a โdecentralized crypto platformโ is in its marketing.
Reporters at the @WSJ read this, then rather than being a shrill for crypto PR, you might actually rise to be journalists again.

Hyperliquid, a decentralized crypto platform, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The exchange has emerged this year as a go-to spot for Wall Streetโs weekend warriors. https://t.co/3VCVCnxToh
@TheIntrinsicP@GenRLee@B0ngb1ngb1ng@MorgothsReview I donโt disagree with you, and yes, this too must end, but not by asking a crooked police state to extend their policing to create the semblance of balance that allows you to go back to sleep and pass to your children this sickness.
No, the UK is a police state, you are right. But that does not mean you should advocate for yet more police state to maintain a pretence of balance that isnโt real just so you can feel a bit better. Thatโs nonsense.
Burn this and everything about it into your memory. Hold it. Donโt emote like a child, turn every single moment into the cold, heartless, weapon it must be if our side is to win. You donโt win a war by charging a machine gun, you win a war by cutting your enemyโs supply chain.
Cut off everything in your life that touches @LBC. Cut out family members who tune in until they donโt. Win on the terms they care about that they cannot control or abuse.
@AlanWillia92006@MorgothsReview Sadly, lying about Chauvin and Floyd is de rigeur. Neither you nor I have locus standi to do anything about it. Except this: I donโt listen to LBC, I donโt watch their content and Iโll walk away from anyone socially that does. Itโs a bit like putting your pro-nouns in your bio.
I get it, absolutely. Advocate for everything that hurts him - write to everyone who advertises with @LBC and make clear that you will not buy anything from them - or terminate any service you do get and say why - so long as they support the promotion of racial hatred by advertising with LBC.
Cancel everything that touches them. Burn every bridge. Make clear that there is them and there is US who are done tolerating them. Alienate from your social circles anyone who listens to LBC. Do everything you can to punish them for being the broadcaster of hate. Hate them MORE. Cold, hard, unforgiving, calculated fury.
