Sort of ironic that Fortescue along with fellow Australian mining giants Rio Tinto and BHP have concluded hydrogen is too inefficient and costly to replace diesel off road mining vehicles, choosing battery electric instead.
They have concluded that energy efficiency is a key reason for this decision, with direct electrification having an 80% fuel-to-wheel efficiency compared to 30% efficiency from hydrogen fuel cells
