@theSNP Progressive my arse, take away councils power to set council tax is not progressive and then not finding the council tax freeze , disgraceful and hypocritical - vulnerable are suffering as a direct result of your choices
@HumzaYousaf Thanks , but my particularly those in Gaza, folk are suffering across the world including in Ukraine but you don’t bother about that/ merry Christmas Humza
@BBCDavidWL I don’t like yer Harvie or his politics but i feel he was right to call out the bigot as such when subjected to homophobia, whatever yer politics no-one should be an apologist for bigoted behaviour
@Jackson_Carlaw@ERConservative The roadworks outside pure gym and with Braidholm road closed have already cut large parts of Giffnock off from the rest of East Renfrewshire
@_KateForbes I was a yes voter who switched to no, but I think a better focus on economy and less giveaways while core services fall apart would be good and might well bring me back- Forbes and Regan both talk a lot of sense. Get rid of the anti-business @scottishgreens from government
@D0ntBeFooled@Peston It’s not just about paying in more than 60k it’s about pension increasing in value by more than that - for those on average salary schemes a modest promotion will breach the £40k cap
@Peston Middle class bung! Public sector can’t recruit cause folk don’t want promotions given the tax bill they will face for breaching the annual allowance,
@premnsikka Something had to be done to reduce doctors leaving nhs and working part time , impacted a lot of middle income people in public sector, a couple of modest promotions even at a low level in a 3 year period can and middle council level workers can get enormous tax bill
@Masterofwhine@BBCBreaking Some of the folk on here suggesting this is harsh clearly haven’t read the article , couple of months in prison with a sex offender, suicide attempts , threats, constant fear and having house vandalised all suffered by the victims - multiple lives impacted and a racial element
@msm_monitor Glasgow broke cover first as its budget meeting is before anyone else’s , suspect plenty of councils if they had been allowed to exercise their democratic mandate would cut some teachers to save some other services - Glasgow always gets more attention as it’s the biggest anyway
@kaukabstewart@ScotGovFM@scotgov So you value teacher job security over other council jobs and local democracy- if want to save jobs you should properly fund local government
@BBCScotlandNews Scandal , imagine uk government telling a devolved government how to spend their money, and basically saying teachers are more valuable than all other council workers as for any teacher job saved at least 1 other worker will lose their job
@Greypusscats@EISUnion Reference to office staff was to distinguish between craft and dlo workers who tend to work contractual on hours - I know teachers who do hardly any extra work too, but point is plenty of council staff including teachers work the extra hours
