I was happy even though they ducked out late on the 224 game.

I went to the 2023 Duke game (great game we nearly lost) and Pitt this year (not anywhere near as entertaining even though we won big).

Tulane and JMU kept BYU or Vandy and ND from getting in - that's my real issue.

You actually prove another point. Series are done years in advance. We cancelled UM before they got really good, after years of giving them a shot.

It happens all the time with lots of different teams.

Conferences don't matter (and should be modified into a more professional and geographic league).

ND will join a conferences when the conferences play by rules that apply to all.

Losing only doesn't materially affect your team if your name is Alabama (BYU and Al lose similarly, and only BYU moves - after Al jumped ND barely beating to 5-7 Auburn and losing to 5-7 FSU).

@CollegeHoopsTIk Everybody was independent at one time. ND tried to get in the BG10 and religious bigotry kept them out.

To survive they built a brand - played teams others wouldn't (MI State), and don't need a conference as a result.

Best 12 in! No G5 participation trophies.

Before NIL and salaries, I'd have agreed. These days, not so much.

Non-CFP bowls games are anachronisms of bygone days.

I'd love to see them play again, but I do understand taking care of your player's future.

They'd have 15 to 20 preparing for the combine and others transferring.

Wouldn't be the same team and you risk player injury. Actually, shows player care.

We just value our player's health over filling the university coffers in a meaningless bowl game.

I wish BYU had done the same.
