I don't know what a sports economist is and quite frankly don't care; I know what a monopoly is and I know what gov't subsidy is and I know that w/gov't subsidy, it is hard to get competition into the market place but don't blame MLB for taking advantage

@Nomadhidinghere @timdierkes @Adams_Steve Hmmm, and why does MLB offer such a good product? Could it be because of investment dollars? Investment money that is offset by taxpayer funds AND a more $$ available because the ROI is guaranteed because it is a gov't protected monopoly..

@Nomadhidinghere @timdierkes @Adams_Steve I 100% agree with this.. but it does speak to the monopoly argument. New business simply can't compete with gov't/taxpayer dollars are thrown at something.. and that has happened so much and MLB has grown because of it that new biz will NEVER compete

@Nomadhidinghere While I tend to agree with you, MLB wants the law to stay in place so it seems. I don't disagree with the law at all; I disagree with the notion that they can operate as a monopoly and the rest of us can't. Why are they special?

@Nomadhidinghere and from a practical perspective, too.. they control talent as we learned during COVID where players were not allowed to go play overseas - btw I hate anti-trust - but gov't gives it to MLB but not to the rest us
