Winners of 'My Best School Trip' at the national School Travel Awards 2022. A great partnership between school and YHA for over a decade. So happy that we could run the 2021 trip and give our wonderful pupils the trip they deserved. @YHAOfficial @YHAPerranporth @SchoolTravelOrg
Now for the penultimate category. The ‘My Best School Trip’ Award recognises visits that are inclusive, achieve their objectives and offer top experiences. This year’s winner is Grendon CE Primary School for its residential in Cornwall

Key Stage 1 hosting their own social-distanced Olympics, linked to their study of Greece. The children have written fantastic letters to an Olympic legend - what do you think @sebcoe? https://t.co/gk96wAYb4H
Brilliant #NEDTalks3 on curriculum tonight. Really want to learn more about @GrendonPrimary approach - meaningful global learning at the forefront of planning. So much that can be learnt for our own #world journey.
Sadly it looks like my late arrival into Brum has derailed my best attempts to be there tonight. I was particularly looking forward to catching up with friends and listening to the inspirational John Wayland @GrendonPrimary ☹️ @leighwol @sencogirl @621carly @TomRees_77@jaydav20
Mainly we talk about education on long runs or rides so it’s brilliant listening to @GrendonPrimary talk about his curriculum approach without me continuously interrupting and arguing!
#nedtalks
JW gives example of 2013 and all that @GrendonPrimary brought into the curriculum by leaving space for current affairs.
Argues that a crowded curriculum doesn’t allow this knowledge into the classroom.
‘We should give the curriculum space to breathe’. #nedtalks
One of the things I love about JW’s approach at @GrendonPrimary is that he’s stayed there for 10 years (+ counting). His approach is not easily replicated and his attention to implementation has been forensic and sustained. #nedtalks
Now my good friend John Wayland, Head of @GrendonPrimary is up. Acknowledges that knowledge is central, but other drivers within their global curricular approach.
Cedar Class received a package full of goodies and thanks from their friends at the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs! The children immersed themselves in the work of the sanctuary and raised vital funds. Amazing to see our pupils' actions impacting at an international level!
Delighted to welcome Chris and Shaun from @BaxterStorey into our award winning school as part of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts @AcadCulArts 'Adopt a School' programme, today working with primary pupils on food taste and texture.
