@NilsPratley@Frencheconomics Agree it's terrible, but some of these high costs are self imposed, eg carbon taxes on gas fired electricity. It makes no sense to subsidise expensive green sources by taxing gas (which we need) and then fling subsidies around to compensate businesses and households. Nuts!
The UK is now looking at increasing the order of Vanguard vessels procured from 3 to 6 to replace the Batch 1 OPVs due to retire next year.
"Ocean going variant" could begin entering service by 2030, with interest from Norway, UK and Lithuania.

@FennellJW This sounds sensible from a capacity/offset perspective. More sensible to build in experienced yards with capacity than do UK builds when the Type 26 is taking a decade to get hull no1 in commission. What would Lord Fisher have said??
I remember reading this "intellectual giant" of conservatism and was genuinely shocked by just how low the quality of thought was. Pathetic, vile little psued who deserves to be promptly forgotten
@staylorish I worked for newspapers - and real ones are nothing like this shower. It's telling that no one serious can be arsed to take them to the press regulator..
@CitySamuel Disagree. This is a half baked, not properly worked through proposal done purely to highlight the difference with Burnham. She shouldn't endorse it. Cartlidge should do his homework properly. Perfectly fair for Ferrari to expose this.
@ewangibbs Well I agree we are doing it wrong, but they are at least building something down south. I'm philosophically in favour of a state-led building programme picking 1/2 designs and building large numbers of them.
