@Johnkempf Tarnished plant bug confounds me. They seem to be total generalists that will exploit any weakness anywhere they can find it. Also, in our area, brassica root maggot is unbelievably tenacious. Swede midge also causes lots of problems on many of those same crops.

If you know what pests you're managing for, then you'll know what insect net products will or won't work. Different mesh sizes exclude different pests. Important: smaller mesh size = more exclusion, but also less air flow!

Is it an actual insect net or is it a p19 woven row cover? The p19 tears too easily, I wouldn't try using it for covering a cat tunnel. A real insect net would be fine though.

@DripChud Stan Rogers is the GOAT of Canadian songwriting. Songs like "The Jeannie C." And "Harris and the Mare" are like musical versions of Jack London stories. Absolutely phenomenal storyteller and musician.

@reggaj First killing frost was last week for us - my last seeding of carrots (July 15) is about that size, maybe slightly larger on average - really hoping we can get some decent size on them by early November!

@reggaj Nice! We grew chalupa for the first time this year. Coastal star had been my go-to, but we wanted to change it up. We had incredibly excessive rain and lots of frost in May, June and July so it wasn't really a fair trial I don't think. We'll try em again tho, those look great!

@wrowclif Absolutely agree. But I also have to throw celeriac in the running for most underrated root vegetable. Ugly as sin but very delicious - especially roasted - but even raw it is really no slouch in the flavour department

@TRFyeomanfarmer That's great! I don't necessarily face it alot, it may be 1% of interactions if I'm being honest - but it is definitely indicative of the phenomenon wherein negative stimulus is heavily over-weighted by our brains than the positive. One rotten apple spoils the bunch they say!
