I tried to have a conversation with a family member yesterday and talk about Connor but, the look on their face told me that they wanted me to stop. So, I did. It was very uncomfortable and soul crushing. So sad 😔
@GriefTrauma I was sent this beautiful poem by a lady who lost her adult son a few weeks ago. She read my book & gave me permission to share her moving words … #grief#loss#bereavement
@GriefTrauma Thx for saying this! My husbands work I don’t think truly care, he works over and beyond what he should. Today a yr since his beloved son went to hospital, Wednesday a yr of his passing. People somehow think this is long enough to be ok now?! 😢🙏
@KavitaGooch You are welcome. If they truly think that a year is long enough to grieve, then they clearly have not lost a child. This is lifelong for us. We never stop grieving, we just learn healthier ways to carry it with us.
Anyone struggling with prolonged grief, know that it is finally recognized as a disability. Please do your research in order to know what is available out there for each of us. Speak to your employers, education facilities, insurance providers, etc.
@CPAmom6 I started by telling everyone who wanted me to do something that I would check my schedule and let them know. This would buy me the time I needed in order to think before just saying “sure, I can do that,” which was always my automatic, people-pleaser response in the past.
@Death_Bow @RachelGriffCA When our kids are small, we protect them from stranger’s, fire, cars, etc….never imagining that when they grew older, we would be trying to protect them from themselves. 💔💔💔
Sometimes I ask myself, Why couldn’t I have gotten there in time to save him? Maybe CPR would’ve worked to bring him back. That movie with it’s happy ending plays over and over in my head and for a very brief moment I feel happy again. Then comes reality💔
@Death_Bow @RachelGriffCA Oh Heidi, I am so sorry💔 This is why you are struggling so much with anger right now and it is completely understandable. I get it. You have worked so hard and long to keep him here. I truly expected things to get easier as my kids got older. I completely wrong.
@CPAmom6 I was always the one that was everything to everyone all of the time. I took care of everyone. After Connor died, I had to learn the hard way that I couldn’t do that anymore. It wasn’t easy to learn that new behavior, but I did it and I feel much better for it.
@CPAmom6 I agree. I also have to remind myself that I need to take a break much more often than I use to. I had to learn how to create clear boundaries in many areas of my life in order to even begin taking breaks. It seemed like it was all just coming at me all of the time.
