@Wowhead You need a mix of both. Anyone saying party only didn't raid in TBC recently. My guild did, and having to tell certain raiders "no" constantly because it would "mess up our comp" was the most annoying shit ever. Even more annoying when you actually have to pug one of those roles.
I also don't think fixing the flight path jank at all hurts the journey in Classic WoW. I promise you flying from Winterspring to Silithus with "fixed" flight paths is still gonna take a decent amount of time.
No way in hell people are trying to say stuff like "enjoy the adventure" or saying dumbass shit like "go play retail" to the 2004 flight path jank.
1) WHAT ADVENTURE? THE ONE WHERE I AFK?
2) Flight paths in retail, lmao. 95% of the time you're dragon riding you moron.

WoW Forever flight paths still take some pretty bad detours.
Will we get optimized flight path routes at launch?
Would be a great QoL upgrade that also makes logistical sense so the bats and griffons conserve energy. π
"Convenience is the death of the journey."
Probably the biggest reason why the WoW of today is so unrecognizable compared to what it used to be.
There actually is some added convenience too in Forever, but it's no where near to the scale of retail WoW, and that's a good thing.
I'm seeing a lot of discourse about who WoW Forever is being made for and while I cannot speak for anyone else on the team I can speak for myself. I am making WoW forever for the classic gamer and for the millions of people who have had their accounts lapse over the years because they were not satisfied with changes that were made to the game. Whether those changes were to the art style, the story, social aspects, game design, or changes to their favorite class.
I did not spend the last year of my life relearning and mastering how to do things like we did it 20+ years ago for retail players. I could have taken it easy and just kept doing things like I had done for the past 8 years on retail...because I was much more familiar with it and it actually takes a lot less time to do (height maps on textures do a ton of heavy lifting). Because the reality is that the majority of retail players wouldn't care and would probably actually prefer it. But I felt I had a duty to uphold an artistic vision and integrity that millions of people expect from us. But not just for our players, but for my co-workers past and present who worked on it over 20 years ago. If I could not create something that resembled their work then I failed not only them...but myself.
Please do not take this as me throwing any shade at retail players or the retail team because I am one myself...but I wanted to make Forever as authentic of a Vanilla experience as possible. This involves making decisions wildly different than retail. It means holding the line against changes that create a domino affect down the road. It means keeping friction and inconveniences in the game. It means finding friends and forming groups with strangers and being social!! Because WoWs social aspects have always been the pillar of the game and over the years it has slowly been chiseled away at with changes that allow you play alone.
Since the day I started working on the Riverglades I have lived by three sayings.
"Convenience is the death of the journey."
"If you're making a game for everyone then you're making it for no one."
"Every change we make incurs a debt to the authenticity of the game and sooner or later that debt will be paid."
These are my core beliefs and I had a specific group of people I was targeting with my work. These beliefs cannot be shaken and I will try to hold the line against anything that goes against them and will continue to pester the team about things that feel out of place.
That being said, my hope is that Forever will pull in as many people as possible, whether you are a retail gamer, a classic gamer, someone who hasn't played in years, or even a new player. I hope you can all remember what made this game so special in the first place and that starts with understanding why we are so passionate about keeping it authentic.
@N_Tys26 Some of these replies are amusing. Idk why some of y'all are acting like we're still stuck in 2006. They added fucking transmog to the game. Yet you wanna get mad about people wanting to pvp and play with friends on both factions.
@N_Tys26 Sorry, but this is a horrible idea. If you're going realmless but you keep that restriction, that means if you have friends that you want to play with on the other faction, you'll literally never be able to do it. It's also just bad in general for people that like both factions.
WoW: Forever looks dope for the most part. Will 100% be playing the heck out of it, and I just hope it doesn't go off the rails like SOD did. Since it's a permanent version of the game, they should be taking potential changes more seriously before implementing them.
I've been patient for as long as I can with Dabo. This season is it for me. Either Clemson makes a huge turnaround after this LSU game, or it's time for Dabo to go. They probably won't fire him, so just mutually part ways or whatever instead.
You can tell with today's TYBW episode who's actually there for the narrative and who is just there to see "muh sakuga". Yeah, nowhere near a perfect episode, obviously, but I'm not exactly focused on that by the end of this episode with all these additions. #BLEACH#BLEACH_anime
Did Yhwach need Haschwalth's powers in order to break Ichigo's Bankai? Because that additional line about "this is the moment I needed you for my son" right before the Auswahlen happens feels like it's implying that. #BLEACH#BLEACH_anime
@VIZMedia Very frustrating to see what you guys are doing to so many channels on YouTube. This is some people's livelihoods that you're messing with, and potentially ruining. Why the hell would you all of a sudden start doing this now in the middle of the final season? It makes no sense.
That wasn't just the best TYBW episode, that was the best Bleach episode period. It easily surpasses ep6 and it also surpasses 341 from the original anime. I genuinely have no idea how the final battle is going to top or match this. Is it even possible?
Orihime I love you.
