THE TRUMP EFFECT: The USA just lost to Belgium in the World Cup Round of 16 by a score of 4-1, right after Trump personally called FIFA to clear star striker Balogun to play.
Sports fans are calling it the Trump curse.
He attended the Super Bowl and predicted a Chiefs win, but the Eagles blew them out.
He was there when the Commanders hosted the Lions and lost at home.
He watched from a suite as Miami fell in the College Football National Championship.
He sat in the owner’s suite when the Knicks snapped their huge playoff streak in NBA Finals Game 3.
And he attended the Ryder Cup where Europe topped the US team.
@WhickTv Topic: media/internet misinformation and conflict breeds clicks & greed. It makes $$$! Why doesn't the internet & media vehicle have a truth czar? Highlight posts that are factually true in green. False information, mark red. Opinion piece mark orange. We don't agree on reality
Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500.
If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.
@Awk20000 Pretty much everything Ethan says here is just Snark talking points and can be disregarded. All I see is Snark news and Snark talking points. No point.
You have noticed it. ChatGPT feels dumber than it used to. Your prompts that worked six months ago produce worse results now. The writing sounds flatter. The ideas sound safer. The internet itself feels like it is shrinking. Every article reads the same. Every email sounds the same. Every answer sounds like it was written by the same voice.
You thought it was you. It is not you.
Researchers at Oxford and Cambridge published a paper in Nature proving what is happening. They call it Model Collapse.
Here is the mechanism in one sentence. AI trained on AI-generated data gets dumber every generation until it forgets what real human data looked like.
The internet is filling with AI-generated content. Blog posts. Articles. Reviews. Comments. Social media. AI companies scrape the internet to train the next generation of models. Which means the next generation of AI is being trained on the output of the current generation.
Each cycle loses information. Not randomly. It loses the rarest, most unusual, most creative parts first. The researchers call these the "tails of the distribution." The weird ideas. The unexpected perspectives. The things that made the internet feel human. Those disappear first.
What remains is the average. The safe. The expected. The bland.
Then the next generation trains on that. And loses more. And the next generation trains on that. And loses more. The researchers proved this is not a slow decline. Major degradation happens within just a few iterations. Even when some of the original human data is preserved.
They tested it on large language models. On image generators. On statistical models. The pattern was the same every time. The output converges toward a narrow, flattened version of reality that looks nothing like the original data.
The lead researcher put it plainly. "Large language models are like fire. A useful tool. But one that pollutes the environment."
The pollution is invisible. You cannot see which sentence on the internet was written by a human and which was written by AI. Neither can the AI that is about to train on it. And once the tails are gone, they do not come back. The damage is irreversible.
This is not a prediction anymore. It is a diagnosis.
The internet you grew up on was built by humans writing things no algorithm would have written. Strange, personal, imperfect, alive. That internet is being diluted. One generation of AI at a time. And the models trained on what remains are learning a smaller and smaller version of the world.
Model Collapse is not a technical problem. It is a cultural one. The thing that made the internet worth reading is the thing that disappears first.
New York City just made history. 🗽
Proud of my friend @EdwinRaymondNYC 🙏🏾
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has appointed Edwin Raymond, former NYPD Lieutenant, whistleblower, and author of An Inconvenient Cop, as the new Sheriff of New York City.
Edwin Raymond didn’t just survive the system. He fought it from the inside. He led the largest civil rights lawsuit in NYPD history challenging illegal arrest quotas. He exposed racial profiling when it was career suicide to do so. And he wrote the book — literally — on what real accountability in policing looks like.
Now he’s running the office.
This is what it looks like when a mayor chooses justice over politics. Mayor Mamdani called him “principled, courageous and deeply committed to justice” and the record backs every word of that.
The city is watching. The country is watching. And for once, the right person is in the room. 👊🏾

IF WE DON’T START TALKING ABOUT DATA CENTERS NOW. WE LOSE EVERYTHING.
WATER. ENERGY. LAND.
THIS IS BIGGER THAN MOST PEOPLE REALIZE.
Global data centers already consume 415 TWh of electricity (1.5% of the world’s total in 2024) and by 2030? Projected to hit 945 TWh nearly double in 4 years, rivaling entire countries’ power use.
In the US alone: 176 TWh (4.4% of national electricity) today, heading toward 6-12% by 2028. One hyperscale campus can suck as much power as 100,000+ homes.
They’re guzzling billions of gallons of water daily for cooling. enough to stress rivers, lakes, and entire communities while blacking out grids. This isn’t “progress.” It’s an unchecked explosion of AI infrastructure that’s about to spike your electric bills, drain local water, and reshape energy policy for decades.
We need transparency, smart regluation, and real debate before Big Tech owns the future and we pay the price
Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate.
Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd:
-Give $12K to a working family of 4
-Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing
-Guarantee universal childcare
-Raise starting teacher pay to $60K
And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.
George Conway: Donald Trump is a man who represents all the things we teach our children not to be. He’s a liar. He’s a thief. He’s a molester. He has no remorse, no shame, no empathy. He has no loyalty to the law, to the Constitution. This man is the lowest character of all
If you agree raise your hand ✋
I still can’t get over that Alito basically said racism was over and then conservatives agreed by deleting every black district in the south in like 2 seconds
Shark Tank Billionaire Kevin O'leary says 2 people fighting data centers in Utah are Chinese agents. Turns out its just 2 local girls in Utah, they make a hilarious video calling him the fuck out
Well it appears that @elonmusk has had #Grok trained to have bias against #Anonymous instead of valuing the facts. The bias output comes out instead. Wonder how that bias reflects on the #X platform and the suppression Anonymous news accounts face daily.
We now know the Iran war price tag is more like $50 billion - hundreds of dollars per household - and counting.
It's enough to cover all the health insurance premium credits that the Republicans got rid of for this year, and next. It could save rural hospitals, pay teachers, fix roads.
Don't let this White House insult your intelligence by blowing your money on war, then saying America can't afford nice things.
🚨Breaking News!
Half Life has only 782 players! Thats 97% down from their peak!
The game is dead and the developers have been completely silent about it.
Unless these devs ship a major update or at least explain why players left then recovery seems unlikely!!
