Europe’s 21st century migration patters are the inevitable denouement of 19th century colonial conquest. Don’t like migrants? Shouldn’t have colonized. Complaining about the consequences of your own actions is weird
You’ll be able to tell the difference between Mexicans in America and actual Mexicans over the coming days because the former will wang on about shit food/“colonizers” while the latter will be posting videos of British aid workers being beheaded by ISIS
Anyone trying to use WWII to legitimize the present state of affairs should be forced to confront the fact that people who actually fought it thought (a much less decayed version of) the status quo was a disaster.
Explaining to my daughter that her mom and I watch different TV shows
Daughter: Does she watch stuff without you?
Me: Some. She likes The Biggest Loser. Do you know that that is?

Sir Robert Menzies on the White Australia Policy
Interviewer: Do you believe that the so-called White Australia policy will always be a stumbling block?
Menzies: I don't think it's such a stumbling block as people pretend, but it is important for us. I haven't the slightest doubt that we should maintain it the way it is for as long as we possibly can. We ought to aim at having a homogeneous population. I don't want to see reproduced in Australia the kind of problem they have in South Africa or in America or increasingly in Great Britain.
I think it's been a very good policy and it's been of great value to us. Most of the criticism of it that I've ever heard doesn't come from these Oriental countries. It comes from wandering Australians who hold these views, of course, in the past.
Interviewer: Sir Robert, you have been described as a racist.
Menzies: Have I? I have read this. Yes, well, if I were not described as a racist I'd be the only public man who hasn't been.
That's one of these jargons, isn't it? One of these mod words — you call a man a racist.
