@searchnrescue88@bostonaustin which is why i say bad teams doesnt equal bad defenses. all ive been getting at is efficiency has always mattered much more than volume for MVPs. had it not been for allens pity MVP last year id say mayes the clear winner. now they changed the precedent.
@searchnrescue88@bostonaustin Bad teams doesn’t exactly equal bad defenses. Running the clock out the 2nd half of every other game certainly hurts volume stats whether the qbs in or not. Historically MVPs been division winner with elite efficiency. Volume hasn’t mattered until they wanted to gift Allen an mvp
@searchnrescue88@bostonaustin It’s a real argument that this hurt his volume stats since he didn’t play every other 4th quarter. The pity mvp last year maybe changed things but mvps historically weighted efficiency over volume stats.
@followdunc@Rate_the_Refs I know it. I agree he initiated the helmet to helmet. I’m saying the body doesn’t physically allow for another option. Stand up and get in a stance to tackle something chest level and then below the chest and see where your heads at. Now imagine you’re doing that but in a lunge.
@followdunc@Rate_the_Refs And I guess I’m not saying it’s a bad call here. Just a bad rule. Defenders get the short end of the stick when qbs slide late.
@followdunc@Rate_the_Refs In the least condescending way possible can you find a clip of someone lunging for a tackle that doesnt have their head in front of them. The body just doesn’t work that way. In this case herb knows where the first down is and slides later than he would otherwise. Risk/reward
