Activists in Tokyo protested Japan’s National Information Council bill, condemning it as a step toward a "war state."
Thousands joined the rally, warning that the law creates a mass surveillance system.
Notice how quickly all that bullshit about liberating Iranians disappeared, and now it's all about bombing them back to the Stone Age, destroying their bridges and universities, poisoning their air and water, and stealing their oil.
@OffGuardian0@LischGary Sure. Of course it is. But in the interim between it solidifying itself into another form (right now China or the UN or whoever do not have 800 bases to project power etc.) there is a chance for real resistance. To suggest otherwise is just preemptive defeatism.
Word of the day: (Gomasuri)
Gomasuri(ごますり / 胡麻擂り)means brown-nosing, sucking up, or flattering someone to gain favor.
Literally, it means “grinding sesame.”
A term used to describe someone who hovers around a superior, saying whatever they want to hear:
Takaichi Sanae
Israel just attempted to assassinate the great Steve Sweeney while he was reporting from Southern Lebanon
Relieved to hear Steve is recovering
The terrorist regime that has murdered hundreds of journalists over 2-3 years will never recover from this
A timeline of Prime Minister Takaichi's statements about the possible dispatch of Japan's Self-Defense Forces to the Strait of Hormuz:
▪March 12 - “We cannot envision deploying the Self-Defense Forces nearby to remove mines.”
▪March 13 - “Nothing has been decided regarding dispatching the Self-Defense Forces.”
▪March 16 - “The Japanese government is currently considering how to take the necessary measures...We have not been asked by the U.S., so it is difficult to answer hypothetical questions.”
▪March 16 (later) - “No decision whatsoever has been made about dispatching escort ships.”
▪March 17 (today) ➜ “We are actively examining within the government what can be done within the bounds of what is legally possible. Depending on the mission, Diet approval may also be required.”
Takaichi will meet with Donald Trump in Washington on March 19.
@OffGuardian0@deepfriedWA@MaxRParry@_InThisTogether This could be the case, but whatever this new power structure might eventually be it doesn't yet have 800 military bases around the world to enforce its control. Focus on getting rid of the existing empire even if we have to exploit imperialist ("globalist") rivalries to do so.
The top comments are full of Japanese people frustrated that their media won't report on this.
Why aren't they covering it? Considering that the Japanese people don't usually protest, this is a pretty big deal.
After @realDonaldTrump repeatedly threatened to annex so-called "Canada," his faithful poodle Governor @MarkJCarney wags his tail while giving full support to the American-"Israeli" war of aggression against Iran.
