@TMerritt_9@EricHovagim I lived there 17+ years, everyone I know who was born and raised in NYC would laugh in my face if I ever said I was a New Yorker in my SoCal drawl
@mateusz92_@EricHovagim The Russian Empire was ethnically heterogeneous. Poland had to be a sovereign state at the time of his father’s birth for his descendants to be considered ethnically Polish? His original name was Mileikowsky and his ancestral heritage is in present day Poland.
@EricHovagim I’m certainly not defending the colonial foundations of America or its arbitrary territorial divisions, but I don’t think a brain-rot inducing social media series like SubwayTakes interviewing someone as vapid as J-Lo is even part of that level of blood-and-soil discourse.
@DrunkTweets77@EricHovagim She definitely took it too far with the birth requirement. But I’m a California native who lived in NYC almost 20 years and never dared call myself a New Yorker.
@EricHovagim I don’t think she’s deep enough to be making the kind of nativist argument you’re referring to, even though it admittedly may sound like she was. She’s talking about out of towners and gentrifying transplants trying to say they’re New Yorkers.
Meanwhile on Chinese TV: "I visited California in the 80s. They were promising high-speed rail. China didn't even have highways."
40 years later, they have built zero. China: biggest high speed rail network.
"The superiority of socialism is clear."
@SecRubio Tank Man survived, Marco.
The tanks stopped.
Rachel Corrie's bulldozer didn't stop.
It reversed.
She was 23.
Your government funded the machine that killed her.
