This Memorial Day, the Grover Beach Police Department encourages our community to take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor our fallen heroes. 🇺🇸
Good evening, Grover Beach!
This morning around 7 a.m., you may have noticed police activity on Oak Park near Brighton. GBPD assisted the Fresno Police Department in serving a search warrant related to a retail theft case that originated in Fresno.
The search warrant was served without incident, and one female was arrested. Evidence was located at the home and was seized by Fresno PD.
At this time, we have no further information to provide. Any additional questions should be directed to the Fresno Police Department.
Today, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.
We pause to reflect on their courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Please join the Grover Beach Police Department in honoring our fallen heroes and keeping their families, friends, and partners in our thoughts today and always. 🇺🇸💙
Today, members of the Grover Beach Police Department gathered alongside our brothers and sisters from across San Luis Obispo County for the annual Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony. Together, we honored and remembered the twelve California Peace Officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2025.
We also took time to remember San Luis Obispo Police Detective Luca Benedetti, who was tragically murdered five years ago while serving his community with courage and dedication. His sacrifice, and the sacrifices of all fallen officers, will never be forgotten.
National Peace Officers Memorial Week is observed each year to honor the brave men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty and to recognize those who continue to serve and protect our communities every day. We stand united in remembrance, gratitude, and support for the families, friends, and agencies forever impacted by these losses.

The device, shown in this post, reads information as you make a transaction. Criminals then use this information to make fraudulent purchases and/or withdrawals from your account.
GBPD Detectives are on the case! If you happen to become a victim, notify your financial institution and your local police department.

On Monday, March 23, 2026, Grover Beach Police Department members were honored in front of the City Council for saving a life while on duty in 2025. It was a wonderful night to honor them all in front of friends, family, and colleagues!
The award recipients, all wearing red medals, were honored for two different lifesaving incidents occurring in 2025.
Officer Akai Reyna, far left, was honored for performing lifesaving CPR on an arrestee who had a medical emergency during transportation to the jail. After removing the arrestee from the rear of the patrol vehicle, Officer Reyna performed solo CPR for several minutes until fire and paramedics arrived and confirmed that a pulse had been restored. The arrestee was treated at the hospital and later released.
Senior Police Officer Walid Elsayed (to the right of Officer Reyna), Commander Nelida Aceves, Detective Joshua Ruiz, and Community Service Officer Randy Gonzalez earned a lifesaving medal for saving the life of an arrestee who attempted to strangle himself while in custody. The arrestee slipped his handcuffs to the front and attempted to strangle himself with a seatbelt. The team of officers worked together to cut the seatbelt wrapped tightly around the neck of the arrestee in the rear of the patrol vehicle. They were successful and provided medical treatment to the arrestee, who was later treated at the hospital.
Had it not been for the actions of all of these officers, two lives would've been lost. Please join us in congratulating all of them for a job well done!
